McCoys Unprofessional Behavior in "The Man Trap"

^ I believe you.

It may sound silly today, but I think a lot* of people thought that TV only showed "real" things back then, as if the people were actually married and a family on Father Knows Best or Leave it to Beaver.

*And by a lot, I mean enough that it's bothersome, not a huge percentage. I remember reading on one show I liked from the 80s that the main character was going to shoot directly at the screen at the begining of the episode, the censors wanted it changed to an off angle so no one at home would get scared of being shot or have a heart attack. Really.

So, the reason why MCCOY seems so out-of-character, is only the effect of Broadcast Standards super-imposed on a the creative efforts of a writer,... again.
Interesting. I'd never considered that. Nice examination!

Well that's just silly, especially considering...

Wow. I've never heard that, but it certainly doesn't surprise me, given the inconsistent, arbitrary and inventive rules and methods that networks employ in order to impose morality.

Besides everything that has been said.... it was the sixties, so it wasn't as big of a deal.

Wasnt that "Sledge Hammer"??

Yes, it was. I put the link there, it links to a Slege Hammer! website.

It's a good show, I rate it very highly. They did a lot of parodies of other shows and movies, like one time he had to hide for a week and moved in with the "Mennynotes" like Witness, or they had to rebuild him after he was almost killed and called him Hammeroid like Robocop, except Hammeroid had a built in stereo and soda machine.

Harrison Page is really good as Captain Trunk, actually all of the cast was good and they had a lot of good guest stars.

"Sticking badges? I don't need no sticking badges!" <Pulls out his... Well, goes without saying.>

So TPTB were worried about the audience reaction to Hammer shooting straight at them - but not particularly concerned about the example he sets for handling of firearms in general? I hope they knew what they were doing.
