Actually Paul Rudd is one year old. Wilford brimley was 51 in Cocoon in 1985, (and he may have been 50 at the time of filming).

Paul Rudd is currently 52.

That said Wilford Brimley looked older than 50 in Cocoon in 1985. I'm currently 58 and I still don't look as old as Wilford Brimley did in that film.
