Maybe its me, I hate Seth Rogen

Interesting that my first thought upon seeing this thread, namely the fact that I don't mind Seth Rogan, he's not as annoying as Will Ferrel, is shared by others.

Though I think I'm opposite of most people, I liked him better in movies where his character is more developed, like Knocked Up, than in Superbad,.

Well from the look of things, TrekBBS is going to catch fire when The Green Hornet comes out with Seth Rogan in the straight man leading role.

Re: Green Hornet

I don't think he is necessarily a bad actor. I just think the writing he tends to gravitate towards is not that good/funny. I'd be curious to see him take on some more dramatic stuff just to see how well he can pull it off. I also suspect he can pull of a straight man role.

In the real world, Apatow heros aren't the average joes we're all rooting for; they're the guys everyone tries to avoid at weddings.

Wow...that's a fantastic way of putting it.

I haven't seen a single thing by Seth Rogan that I haven't loved. Same goes for Judd Apatow.

That whole gang of people put out some hilarious movies.

I like Seth Rogan, I generaly find him pretty funny (though I don't like him in interviews. He comes across to much like a stoner douchebag) and Jonah Hill? I could take or leave him. He doesn't impress me much one way or the other.

That being said, I'd take 100 million Seth Rogans over 1 Jonah Hill. That little fucker I can't stand at all.

Is he the little fat kid who always plays Rogen in the flashback scene in every film he appears in?

For the longest time, I thought the fat kid(with the fucking hair that makes me want to scalp him and feed his body to rabid dingos)WAS Seth Rogen. I didn't know there was an actual adult called Seth Rogen.

Either way, I loathe both and feel that both are MASSIVELY over-exposed. Neither are very funny but just appeal to the Joe Podunk/Madison Rose crowd who go to the flicks every Saturday night.

Oh and why the fuck is every new male personality now called Seth? It's as bad as a few years ago when every new chick was called Brittany.

Um...no. I don't think you and I are thinking of the same person. Jonah Hill is this guy. He does, however, appear in many movies with Seth Rogen.

Yeah - it's the same guy - he is always the annoying fat kid. Like I said, for the longest time I thought THAT was Seth Rogen. Either way, I can't wait until both come to the end of their fifteen minutes.

I think Seth Rogen will be here for quite some time. Jonah Hill, however, will probably never rise about bit and supporting roles beyond Superbad.

Yeah, while I like Rogen, Jonah Hill is better off forgotten. He was okay in Knocked Up since he was barely in it.

I don't know if I hate all of him, but i can't for the life of me figure out why he is getting lead roles. He's at best a second banana playing the goofy friend roles. I didn't for one second believe Katherine Heigl of Elizabeth Banks would be remotely attracted to a douchebag like that. He is good playing characters like Superbad or 40 Year Old Virgin, but beyond that he just grates on you.

Katherine Heigl in Knocked Up for sure--SO unrealistic! Even if she got trashed and hooked up with him, to move into the marijuana porno den with him??? Come on. Apatow movies don't depict women realistically at all (though to be fair, chick flicks don't really depict men realistically either).

Elizabeth Banks' character in Zach and Miri I understood a little more, because they were friends first and actually had a relationship to build upon.

Definitely not. The whole Seth Rogen/Judd Apatow comedy package skeeves me completely. I hate that whole school of comedy that bases itself on the idea that men are all cretinous horndogs eternally trapped in adolescence. I find that insulting, and I'm not even a guy. In the real world, Apatow heros aren't the average joes we're all rooting for; they're the guys everyone tries to avoid at weddings.

Agreed--the picture painted of men in those movies isn't much better... though there are some guys who fit that stereotype.

All that being said, I do like Seth Rogen. I'm a fan of all the Freaks & Geeks alums. This thread would make my roommate very sad, as she both likes Rogen and thinks he's cute!
