Maybe I Should Just Go Back To Bed

I have the opposite problem. I have a job that I hate with every ounce of my being and wish I never had to walk into that place ever again. Unfortunately, since it's a paycheck and health benefits, I don't have a choice. Eight hours daily are so highly miserable and loaded with stress from dealing with dumb, rude, and lazy people at a crackhead pace, I go home at night and instead of looking for other jobs like I should to get out of this hellhole, I drink a six pack and escape through watching sci-fi or listening to music. Vicious, dark, dark cycle. I feel trapped and I need a way out of this nonsense asap. I'll take suggestions too. And something will pop up, Dark Journey, in my experience and average of 3 to 4 months although this shitty economy may have an effect too.

Is it the field you are in or just the place you work? If you would like to do something else with your life it might help to get some career counseling or look at some career guides like Richard Bolles or Laura Fortgang. I know what it is like to work at a place that just gets worse and worse every day. Definitely now is not the time to quit a job. Maybe you could devote a certain amount of time to doing something specific about a new job and then rewarding yourself with beer and Star Trek. It's obviously tough for a lot of us here so don't give up hope.
