May Challenge: New and/or Improved!

Thanks for the votes folks, and here we go...

...as a riff off of last month's idea, we're going to the other extreme.

The theme for this month is New and/or Improved!

Show us something new in the Trek universe, either from the history of Trek or an item/moment/person/etc. of your own devising. Meeting a character for the first time, launching a new/refitted ship, discovering a planet, first contact, the initial use of something, improved versions of things -- whatever you can come up with is fine.

Have fun and hope to see some entries!
