Took me a while to come up with an idea... but here's the first go at a Bynar crest:

Cool idea.

I would suggest that the 1s and 0s are not arranged in a simple alternating pattern like that. Maybe mix up randomly to make it appear like it might actually mean something?

Of course, one could wonder why the Binars would use Human characters for their binary language....then one remembers it's just a TV show!

I love it!

ty!

I thought about the "human numbers" issue and decided that since they're also Federation standard characters I could get away with it. :D ....and also the non-alternating arrangement. I might do one of those and see how it looks.

Really cool design - and makes perfect sense as well. I could easily see something like that hanging on a wall at a Starbase, or in the Federation Council chambers. Clever idea. :techman:

There are only 10 kinds of people in the world: those who understand binary and those who do not.

^^^ Saw that on a bumper sticker one time driving. Laughed my ass off. My wife stared at me like I was insane.

Well, here's one w/o them for comparison purposes... I think I agree that that this is better. Simplicity would seem to fit the Bynars better.

It has been mentioned before, but I'd love to see you use anything other than 1s and 0s to represent binary for the Binars. Have a look at Arabic numerals or Japanese or old Armenian.

not sure why an alien race would be using japanese numerals, since the japanese also use western arabic numerals as often as not, and as i recall the armenian numeral system has no zero, so that's kind of useless.

Not sure why an alien race would be using Earth numerals.

Besides I merely meant as inspiration.

Well as I indicated above, my theory is that since the 1s and 0s are also Federation Standard numbers the Bynars could still plausibly use them...

They may not be 1's and 0's. They maybe the representations of the binary of that race, who's designation nearly looks like our 1's & 0's.

Also maybe, 1's and 0's are a universal thing.

...and their names were given in the episode as 11, 00, 01, and 10, of course. :D

There's one small example of Bynar script, so it's possible I guess...
