Your challenge for May is to design (or redesign) a flag or banner for any of the many governments, groups, entities, or whatever in the Star Trek universe. Many have been shown in the shows and movies over the years, but you're welcome to redesign any of them. Could be a ship, baseball team, planet, species, anything!

    Some examples:
    http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Flags_and_banners
    http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Flag_of_the_Federation
A few from STVI: Vulcan - Romulan - Klingon (Having a hard time finding the others from this movie!)

    Guidance and inspiration:
The 5 Basic Principles of Flag Design - Don't use these as rigid rules, more guidelines.
    https://www.reddit.com/r/vexillology/

One request, try to avoid a "bedsheet" design, which is just a logo on a solid color flag (basically what the Federation flag is), try to use the entire flag as your canvas. Of course, if it looks good, feel free to ignore this! :D

Flags and banners should be fun and relatively easy to design, so feel free to submit multiple entries. And I expect to see a lot of entries! :shifty:

As always, email your entries to ptrope "at" gmail "dot" com by the end of the month, as well as posting them in this thread.

Not an entry but I made a UFP Flag a while back for a Star Trek project, seen in this image. I think I might have a go at redesigning that as an entry.

    Here we go!

Starfleet's Marine Corps is called upon when the going gets rough. Their motto, Nox Noctis Est Nostri, Non Vereor Noctem, reflects this prefectly: We Don't Fear the Night, for The Night is Ours. Their mascot is the nocturnal Vulcan Lanka-Gar predatory bird. And while they do prefer working in the dark of night, a single star in their flag reminds them of why they're doing what they're doing: protect the Federation from the shadows, so that others can live in the light.

SFM vehicles also proudly fly with a variation of the arrowhead, mimicking the bird's beak while still being recognizable as Starfleet. Here, a wing of Marine Darts flies over both the flag of the United Federation of Planets and the Starfleet Marine Corps, early in the evening at Earth's Marine headquarters.

Here, marines honor a fallen comrade, giving him a proper funeral in space with the SFM flag on his casket.

I'm not sure what the preferred method of presentation is? An image with just the flag, or an "action" render like the middle one?

If you mean the poll, it's only the fifth. It's not unusual for Ptrope to take a while to start a poll. Notice how this contest started on the 14th of last month...

Did you sent it in to the right email address? If so, I think it would be fair to ask to re do the poll
