Matrix 4 and 5 Coming!

I think they blew it with their last sequels. I am not so excited by this. Makes me groan. I'd rather see a sequel to Bill and Ted.

The thing about sequels is that anything the siblings come up with is going to invalidate to some degree the truce between the Machines and the humans and therefor tarnish Neo's sacrifice. Actually now that I've typed that maybe this is what a sequel would be about...something happens that causes the truce to be broken and the war continues. I'd like to see how they go about returning Neo though. That would be an interesting discussion to have with the two of them.

My view of the kind of civilisation born in the aftermath of the previous films was one where (in the real world) humans and machines had become even more symbiotically linked than they were before. With that in mind, if there were to be a conflict then it would logically stem from factions (human and machine both) trying to either put things back as they were or free themselves of their interdependence.

The interesting question is whether it'd be the machines or the humans who would be more inclined to have humans as nothing more than unruly batteries again. I'd like to imagine that when it comes to taking sides it won't be humans vs. machines again but more about an ideological split with humans and machines on both sides. After all it had already been established that there were humans who'd decided that reality sucks and would rather climb back into the pink goo and go back to sleep and there were programs that found the tyrannical rule of order in the machine city to be restrictive and wished to escape into the relatively chaotic wilderness that was the matrix.

Granted the first three films was also a war of ideology between the Architect and the Oracle, but they were both programs and were the only ones really aware of what was really going on.

As for how Neo would fit into all of this...well it's clear that his "death" was intentionally left ambiguous. There are any number of ways his body could be preserved, repaired or even re-created. But then of course there's no reason he'd even need a body anymore if he became a being of pure consciousness existing in the sea of information (think the Major at the end of Ghost in the Shell.)

I'd be interested only if it's 3D and makes full use of it. I want shit flying off the fucking screen or no deal.

I believe that Warner Bros will greenlight these films, they will like the 3D potential of it.
