Mass Effect Legendary Edition

It absolutely depends on the gamer, but there's the stereotype of the 'PC master race' who think everything about their way of gaming is inherently superior.
I think the same can be said of Xbox and PlayStation fanboys as well. But for me, it’s not due to being a PC snob. I’ve tried several times to use consoles and the controllers always feel very unintuitive to me. But that’s me personally, and maybe I’d get used to it with time. But if I’m playing on PC I don’t see why I would use anything other than a mouse and keyboard.

$60? I’ll wait for it to go down in price a bit as I’ve beaten all three games.

Marc Walters has also said that they changed some camera angles and shots that feel unnecessary, such as a close up on Miranda's ass, and another where Shephard was sitting with they legs spread apart.
I did find some of the shots of Miranda's arse a bit silly and gratuitous but I also object to removing the shots simply because it can lead to a slippery slope of what else they may remove because people today might find it objectionable. Mass Effect was always a game for adults and a bit of tit and arse is to be expected in a game of this type.

Are you able to play games like Mario effectively on keyboard? Those are the ones I struggle with the most.

I may shock some people for saying this, but I've never actually played Mario. At least not the official one. I've only ever played old clones of it. And I do struggle a little, but I suspect that's more down to me not being good at platformers than the fault of the controls.

For myself, I was quite happy playing most platformers on keyboard. I do tend to use a gamepad for fighting games though do need more practice with them.

But, 2d precision platforming?

Anything that requires lots of jumping without a system to grab onto ledges I'm bad at. But that's a genre I'm not really interested in. For things like Mass Effect, I'm perfectly at home with a keyboard and mouse. It just feels simpler and more natural to me, but that's a personal preference that I know not everyone shares.

Keyboard and mouse works best for shooters, I would agree. And of course anything is fine for RPGs. But any kind of game where you have to twitch press one button while holding down another, it's way better when you can easily press them both with the same finger.

Also some console ports to PC are clearly designed for Gamepads ( i recently bought Zero Dawn Horizon for PC and it's not playable well on the keyboard, at least for me). Mass Effect i could play with a Gamepad i think, it's more like a action shooter, where precision is not that needed as opposed to games like Modern Warfare where kids regularly kicked my ass by landing shots across the map on my head - i don't see that happening so well with gamepads but then again at 45 i suck at those games anyway ;)

I'm not that good at shooters, but I played a 2 player game of one of the Rainbow Six games with one of my mates. He was consistantly better on the PS2 version than me, though I managed to get the job done. When trying on PC, I was more why bother with burst fire when semi works perfectly fine, so that surprised him a little.

Edit to add:-

(He still tends to laugh when he sees me trying racing games with a controller because that I really am bad at). On the PC at least, I have a bit more luck with keyboard.

A proposed chart:

Need to be able to specifically aim at any exact point on the screen instantly: Mouse

Need to quickly access a huge number of distinct commands: Keyboard

Need to fluidly move around a map in more than 8 distinct directions: Joystick or Controller with analog stick

Need to instantly press and hold any combination of a smaller number of commands: Controller

Works for me :)

Yeah, I tend to take the mouse & keyboard / controller thing on a case-by-case basis. But yes, as a general rule of thumb I tend to go with controller for 2D games like platformers or anything generally arcadey, and *some* third person games (mostly Tomb Raider and Assassins Creed.)

In the case of Mass Effect (and Dragon Age), I think I'm just so used to mouse and keyboard I can't play it any other way. I did try controller on both Andromeda and Inquisition...but it just felt wrong.

The question is can I get an XBox Series X when the game comes out? It would just feel wrong to play it on a PS5.

I'm pretty good at that kind of precision with a controller on Playstation systems.

Also, have to say that games these days have extra concessions for gamepads, like easier aiming or locking onto targets. Although I think that mattered more when there was less precision. Now that gamepads have gotten more precise, and more resolution in the image, I think there's been less of a general need for it, and at times, there are even game features that slow time to get better headshots, like when using a bow for instance. Nowadays, I feel it's more of a matter of gameplay style, as combat has generally gotten smoother as well.

I love kicking ass in Ghosts of Tsushima.
