Other than the recent bruha about Karen Gillian being seen cigarrette in hand that's something that's never been mentioned about anyone on Doctor Who, other than Tom Baker who'd put them away when kids were around.

It's just the way things were in the 70s, I guess...

Haven't heard about Gillan doing it. It kind of doesn't surprise me, her being a Scottish girl, but reduces her fanciability rating by a huge amount...

A sad loss of a gracious, lovely lady. What with the loss of Carolyn John, Nick Courtney, Lis Sladen and now Mary Tamm, it's been a bad couple of years for Doctor Who fans.

I saw that Odessa File was on a few weeks ago and put it on SPECIFICALLY because she's in it. Tamm and Baker had a terrific rapport with each other (and even with John Leeson). Between them and the writers, they made that series one of the best.
