Marvel to revitalize the Defenders?

Iron Man Age of Iron is a time travel series where Stark gets to go back in time to see what an asshole he was in the bottle, but last month Stark met a young Johnny Storm with Self confidence issues, until they teamed up and frakked Doctor Doom together.

A few months ago, in Avengers spotlight, Solo Avegers? Some fricking anthology book... Post mortem, weeks earlier Johnny is all moping about how the Thing is an Avenger and he isn't, and he'd like some violin music as he wonders why every other member of the Fantastic Four (including Luke Cage).is an Avenger and he isn't.

:)

^^ That was the worst Howard the Duck I've ever seen. :(

And I'm afraid to ask what's become of Doctor Strange.
That's not Dr.Strange in Fearsome Four, is the character in red/blue with a cape who your thinking is the good doctor?

If so, rest easy. It's a C/D list charcter called Nighthawk.
I guess not being a Howard fan his look hasn't bothered me, he's actually the least interesting part of the book for me.
Funny, Nighthawk was a mainstay of the Defenders in the 70s.

The writers whole gimmick for Nighthawk was "if Batman was an unsuccessful failure" or at least that's how it felt in the Defenders and his cross-universe twin in Squadron Supreme.

That character is not gone forever. Hickman has a plan and people overreacted and Marvel decided to promote it that way lol. I was attempting to help you get back reading but that's fine if you aren't interested.
I can't believe anyone thinks he's gone forever. They seem to use that gimmick every few weeks now.

To answer your question about Doc Strange, he is a New Avenger at the moment. He hasn't been Sorcerer Supreme since Doctor Voodoo holds that title but Strange is still considered one of the most powerful sorcerers in the Marvel Universe.
Oh, that's right. I remember reading that Brother Voodoo is now Doctor Voodoo.

I like how he is being portrayed in Fear Itself: The Deep (Why this series wasn't simply called Fear Itself:The Defenders is beyond me). He is altering less powerful spells to achieve the same results as the major spells. For example, in the latest issue, he used a spell designed to rid grain supplies of goblins in order to banish demons.
Now that sounds clever.

Stephen has been struggling with being slightly weaker since he no longer is Sorcerer Supreme and it's made for some interesting storytelling and character development. Another little Strange tid bit is that Peter asked him and Reed Richards to help wipe everyone's memory of his identity in One Moment in Time in order to explain those events post One More Day. IIRC Stephen was the hesitant one regarding Peter's plan. Peter was selfish though and brought Mary Jane into the "bubble" that protected them. I'm rambling a bit, it's confusing enough to explain lol.

Imagine Kobe Braynt ate 2000 cheese burgers next year.

in Doctor Voodoo, or it might have been one of the avengers books, they were suggesting that the Eye of Agamotto was a mystical-google search-engine that pulled spells from everywhere and puts them directly in the Sorcerer Supreme's toggle.

(Is Toggle a word?)

But you give women bead necklaces and then they flash you?

So much is made of Tony Stark's relapses into hedonism, but Strange was just as bad before he got all that power. But then gods knows what sort of "rush" magic using hands out that he couldn't have been like Fugi from Stormwatch spontaneously orgasming every 5 minutes when he was channelling just the right mojo.

Maybe all these wars with the Dark Dimension started because Strange was looking for somewhere to get wasted?

I really didn't like Stark being involved with erasing Peter's identity. There was an iron Man annual from 1998 there abouts where AIM built a global brainwashing machine, and before Stark destroyed it, he took the time to separate his personas from the human consensus.

Habitual godlike behaviour.

Stark is an asshole.

No.

I think he's still in a casual thing with Night Nurse, though he did have a fling with Deadgirl recently (it seems recently, but it's not.).

(Oh. Umar and Clea are Mother and daughter. That completely slipped my mind. Jeebus, and Darrin thought he had it bad with Endora as a motherinlaw.)

Weren't Clea and Stephen enemies for a while and recently reconciled? Somewhat? I don't remember. I seem to recall the casual thing with Night Nurse. Really the only exposure I have to Doctor Strange is through New Avengers. I wish he would get his own ongoing.

Imagine if somehow that Jackie Kennedy got promoted to the position of the Premier of the USSR hours before the Cuban Missile Crisis began to unfold.

Clea's remit wavered between absolute ruler of the Dark Dimension and Rebel Outlaw Freedom Fighter, and according to Wikipedia her fate rested on the latter, last time we saw her in comics.

Clea was revealed as Umar's daughter during the good old Englehart days. I never knew she became ruler of the Dark Dimension, though. I wonder if she'll change the name to the Light Dimension.

It's too bad that Night Nurse series never came out. It sounded interesting. The whole Max concept started out strong and seems to have died a sad death.

I've always loved the Defenders, but I really hate the idea that Red She-Hulk will be a part of the team. If they can't use Hulk, then why not the real (green) She-Hulk?

Any team with both Dr. Strange and Iron Fist on it is worth looking into, though. I'll probably give the book six issues to win me over....

I think they can't use Jennifer Walters because like her cousin they have plans for Jennifer outside of being a member of the Fearsome Four.

In the 1970s, Marvel created the Defenders, a sort of "non-team" of heroes assembled by Dr. Strange and featuring the Hulk, Namor, Silver Surfer

My favorite characters, all in one place! :bolian:

I read the Marvel Essencials of the first 25 issues or so and I have to say the first line up was the best. Doc Strange, Subby, Hulk and Silver Surfer was the best and only line up I really liked. When Gerber started writing about the Bozos with Nighthawk it got way off track.:vulcan::klingon::borg::)
