Marvel Studios may be planning more MCU for the small screen

"Alias: Jessica Jones" would certainly roll of the tongue a bit better than "AKA Jessica Jones" and make a little more sense in the context of the story, but I think it's obvious why they can't use that title.

"Jessica Jones, P.I." might have worked too, but people might turn up thinking it's some spin-off/reboot of Magnum and get disappointed by the lack of porn 'stache and loud shirts. "Secret Identity: Jessica Jones" is another possibility, but perhaps a little cumbersome.

My only concern with just going by "Jessica Jones" is that it really gives no clue as to the content of the show for casual viewers. But then I suppose that's what the blurb is for.

I'm guessing it was mostly the 15 year old spy show Alias, but did the 40 year old cowboy show Alias Smith and Jones help derail the title?

I think that's fair. Alias Jessica Jones would have been great, but AKA Jessica Jones was a bit awkward.

On the other hand, I'm concerned the name by itself may be too generic to interest new viewers. Although I guess putting "AKA" before it didn't make much difference. And Agent Carter is only slightly less generic.

Too bad there was already an unrelated TV series called Alias...

Eddie Murphy made an entire movie based on the fact that he was a deadbeat running in an election who had the same name as a beloved politician who'd just died.

Unless there's some rule about shows having the same name?

I suppose it's a question of how bastardly the lawyers want to try and enforce their copyrites?

Although 15 years ago when Alias the TV Show tried to make a comic book of themselves, they had to call it "Agent Bristo" becuase that comic was probably shit and Alias was beloved, so this is really, really personal.

If they had called AKA Jessica Jones "Alias", and the audience out there was a little ignorant, would more people tune in because they felt like watching the Jennifer Garner show, or tune out because they did not want to endure any more of that drenn than they failed to ignore 15 years ago.

Perhaps at this stage they're content that "Marvel's Jessica Jones" will probably work as well as a title as anything else because of the "Marvel's" part? They might even be right.

Don't worry Craig, we like you.

If not for the financial failure of Don't trust the Bitch from Apartment 23, which starred Kristen Ritter as the Bitch form Apartment 23, sure as shooting this new Marvel series would have been called "That Bitch Jessica Jones".

I'm telling a joke, but if you've read the comic, that title is wholly accurate.

It's "in" not "from".
I don't mind the title change, the AKA was a little awkward and losing it doesn't seem to change to much of it's meaning.
It also fits in a little better with the other Netflix/Marvel shows, which so far at least seem to be just the main characters' name or superhero alias.

Plans can change, but for now it seems like we'll see the Marvel Netflix shows released around the following times:

Jessica Jones - end of 2015
DD season 2 - March-June 2016
Luke Cage - March-June 2016
Iron Fist - end of 2016
Defenders - March-June 2017

If they're already talking about filming DD Season 2 and either Cage or Iron Fist at the same time, then it's logical to hope that there may indeed be more room for further expansion of the Marvel Netflix shows. We could see DD Season 3 or Jessica Jones 2 before Defenders, or if they wanted, they could squeeze Punisher or Moon Knight or whatever other characters they wanted in there.

Posted this back in April. Over the past few weeks, we've heard a lot more about DD Season 2 than Cage or Iron Fist though.

It may be reasonable to assume that DD Season 2 is now ahead of Cage and anything else on the schedule.

I've never heard of the actor, but its cool to see The Punisher, and I'm sure the people behind the Daredevil show will be able to use the character well.

He was a huge part of the Walking Dead for the first couple seasons.

Everyone in the world watching that show felt compelled to drop him down a well.

Rumor has it that Marvel is having difficulty in locking down a story and direction for Iron Fist.
Not to surprised by this. I was kind of surprised that they went with a character who's so fantastic (as in fantasy not quality), when the other three seem to be more grounded and street level.
