Firestar was first introduced in the animated series Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, where she (Angelica Jones), Bobby Drake, and Peter are college friends. She was created for the show because Human Torch wasn't available to be used and they wanted a fire and ice theme for the show.

If Sink is joining the MCU I want to see her in a recurring role where she'll be a main character. She was the best of the young cast in ST and I think she would be a great Jean Grey.
The biggest point against Sink playing for me is that I keep seeing over and over again that she's playing villain, and I just can't see them introducing Jean as a villain. The only thing I could see if it's just a misunderstanding and they work things out by the end.
