Spoilers Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

No, it came from the moment it was announced. Marvel just ignored it, just as they pretty much always do. No one is trying to hide Taskmaster because of backlash. If they were actually scared of it, she wouldn't be in the movie to begin with.

Trump just won. He won the popular vote. The MCU has had some problems recent in terms of profits. It makes sense that might impact advertising . Not even saying this is exactly what they are doing. But when people advertise these movies they do often take these issues into consideration. Movies try and hide all sorts of things. Like Joker 2 making lots of effort to hide it was a musical in many adds. So between the controversial stuff and the fact the character might die early and also a desire to put your more popular characters up front I think all of these things at least cross their minds.

How much do you think CAPTAIN AMERICA: BRAVE NEW WORLD, THUNDERBOLTS and FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS will do at the box office?

I want Fantastic Four to be good and make at least $1 billion at the box office, I don't know about the others.

Fantastic Four will make all of the money. Captain America and Thunderbolts I am not sure. I think they will make some money. But the issue is always these days I think is this. Is this movie worth peoples time to go to the movie theater or is it something people might want to see but are willing to wait a month and then watch it on streaming. Streaming is pretty much killing the movie industry right now.

I am not trying to create a controversy. I don't really care. I am already interested in seeing the movie. Looks like it's going to be good. I am just speculating on one possibility they might have pursed in marketing.

Ghost and Taskmaster are most likely second tier characters in this. They are not gonna figure greatly in advertising.

That makes sense to me but at least they have shown Ghost without her mask. I am actually kind of curious what role she will have in the movie. She is the only character who has a power other being really strong or skilled at combat.

Disney now brings movies to places like iTunes etc. 60 to 90 days after they start airing in theaters. Also, I don't think iTunes is killing it. As far as I understand, the audience profile in the USA has changed a lot. Now, movies can make the money they can make in 1 month. In cinema, Sonik 3, which is approaching 500 million dollars, opened with a profit of 180 million dollars as a rental and purchase on places like iTunes etc. and despite that, the movie continues to do well at the box office and now places like iTunes etc. are profitable.

Of course, whether this situation causes the movies to be watched in different ways and whether this situation 'kills' the movie is another matter.

Of course it is, but the movie I watched is one that I have the right to know whether there will be a sequel or not.
That shouldn't matter. You should enjoy the film on its own merits regardless of any chances for a sequel or not.

There are countless films, countless superhero films that are great on their own despite the fact they never got a sequel.

Now we're getting somewhere! Great trailer, great song choice, great sense of the overall plot and threat (but left in the dark for those who don't know what's being shown), and...hell, yeah, Wendell Pierce is in it, if however small of a role!

However, the trailer does raise two questions:

1) I get the Avengers aren't coming. That's been a hanging question since Endgame, one that's been commented on before but never directly addressed until now. Most of them are retired, in absentia, dead, or dealing with their own shit. However, what about Captain America? Makes you wonder how Brave New World will end.
It could be after Brave New World, and it's just taking Sam a while to build up the new team. I would not be shocked if the post-credits scene is Sam approaching Bucky to join the new Avengers team, or him confronting Val with a new the fact that he's starting up a new Avengers team, so the Thunderbolts better behave themselves from now on.
2) I've brought this up before but, again, it's weird how Taskmaster keeps being highlighted as a team member, but barely appears in the trailer and isn't present for at least two of the major set pieces.
I'm thinking she's not going to last long, in a movie like this you tend to have one person who's included on the team just to die to establish the villain's power, and she'll probably be that person.

It's not the stores where you buy or rent to the movies that's hurting the theaters, it's the subscription services like Disney+, Max, Peacock, and Paramount+/

This.

Sequels are not an indication of quality. Transformers, Jurassic Park, and Starship Troopers all demonstrate that.
