No, the phrase "guy in the chair" was coined by Ned in Spider-Man: Homecoming, although the trope existed before him, of course.
Oh, I could have sworn CIsco said it.
Yes, but most superhero tropes come from earlier fiction. The superhero genre is a distillation of every other genre.
OK that's true, but I was still talking about this trope as it specifically appears in superhero stories.
As I said, the original comics version of Oracle is one of the earliest iterations of the trope that I'm aware of in superhero comics, although David Lieberman/Microchip, the Punisher's hacker/tech support ally, might be an earlier example by a couple of years. I remember him playing a "guy in the chair" role in his guest appearance in the '90s Spider-Man animated series, though I don't know for certain if it worked the same way in the comics.
Oh I forgot about Oracle, and I wasn't aware of Microchip.
Really, it's just a function of the modern age, when action heroes tend to need computer-savvy tech support to gather information and help them do their job, and when earbuds allow agents in the field to stay in regular touch with their support teams (although of course wired earplugs connecting to walkie-talkies have been a thing since decades earlier). You see it all the time these days in action TV and movies in general.
Yeah, that's true.
Based on early reports people thought the show would be about Peter before meeting Tony Stark. Now it's in an alternate "What....if?" type multiverse story

Cool, I didn't realize it was specifically be presented as an alternate version of the MCU Peter's story.

I needed Wikipedia to remind me (since the trailer failed to...) but both Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio are set to reprise their roles and that alone is reason enough for me to give the show a shot.

Also, I don't think I ever knew that Hudson Thames previously voiced Peter in the zombie episode in the first season of What If...?

While the shows don't have much in common I do think what Deadpool and Wolverine did though was change the overall vibe. The MCU was slowly dying and looking like it was on it's last legs. If created new optimism in the future of the MCU. Deadpool really was Marvel Jesus.

It really wasn't.

And a massive chunk of the internet's 'Deadpool saved the MCU' brigade are the same people who've spent the last five years obsessively shouting that 'no one wants to see any of these obscure characters'. The idea that a large percentage of them were so stoked with Deadpool that they rushed off to watch Agatha after all after years of whining that 'nobody asked for this show' is absurd.

Another possibility for Avengers?

This is actually something I've mentioned in this thread a couple of times that I would like to see happen-- Ioan Gruffudd rumored to be returning as Reed Richards. We've already seen his version of Johnny Storm return, and his version of Reed Richards was mentioned in, Deadpool and Wolverine. I would love to see Pedro Pascal, John Krasinski, Gruffudd and even (why not?) Alex Hyde-White as part of a multiversal Council of Reed Richards.

Not that anyone involved here is a particularly reliable source, but it would be an interesting development and, as I said in the spoiler section, something I've already mentioned that I would like to see happen.

But they are kind of right about the obscure thing. Loosing Stark and Captain America was a big loss in terms of Star power and popularity. You still had some good characters but I sort of relate it to the NBA when Jordan retired and Pippen got traded. I understand maybe having one season as a kind of rebuilding season where you try some new characters out but they really should already be thick into the X-Men and Fantastic Four at this point. Not to mention a Blade movie. They are destined to be the next big thing in the MCU. So many heavy hitters and Star characters to mine.

But also their was beyond that a lack of quality in many of the movies. Spiderman 4,Guardians 3 were the only great movie and personally I think Spiderman 4 is overrated and don't love it as much as others seem to do. We had some okay but kind of meh ones like Shang -Chi, Doctor Strange 3, Black Panther 2 , Black Widow but then lots of of bad ones. Ant-Man 4, The Marvels, Thor 4, The Eternals. The tv shows were solid except for Echo. But by then some of audience was gone, and IMO if things had been doing better at the movies Ms Marvel would have been more successful. Heck if they had put her in one of the popular movies like maybe Spiderman 4 to set the character up she might have also done better as a tv show when it comes to ratings.

I wonder why he's training in Australia? He's a British actor starring in an American show that films in New York, and if he is doing one or both of the next Avengers movies, those have all filmed or at least mostly filmed in Atlanta, so I'm not seeing the Australia connection.
