I love how the usual crowd think they're literally rewriting the whole movie with this new writer when the article literally says they're just going over a few new scenes and some revisions is all.

Still having my fingers crossed this will be good. I like Sam as Cap. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Spellman referred to his Cap4 script as a "paranoid political thriller", which--in a historical sense--perfectly suits the Captain America end of Marvel, and considering his shaping of the The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the film seemed like it was going to be on that serious level. However, the takeaways from the article:

It was even reported last month that Anthony Mackie’s promotion to Captain America with Captain America: Brave New World was having poor test screenings and had planned some reshoots to fix whatever wasn’t working.

--and--

Matthew Orton, who wrote the 2018 film Operation Finale and penned a script for the studio already with an episode of Moon Knight, as well as serving as a consulting producer on the show, has now been brought on to write new scenes and material.

--and--

it was pushed back to 2025 to allow for some extensive reshoots

Sounds like its being screwed with too much IF the Spellman direction of the script provided the core of what had been filmed. At this point, there's no information if that's the case, but I hope whatever edge was originally intended for Cap4 has not been excised in favor of...something else.

Fantastic.

I was already excited about the Kahhori episode but I'm even more psyched about it now that I know it's entirely in Mohawk!

I was skeptical about an oc but at least this is a good boost for representation. Although it also highlights how limited Native Americans representation is in the Avengers

I'm still skeptical of MCU Sam so I hope this is good. However the people on Twitter acting like they're redoing the whole movie are annoying

Deadpool 3 is the most anticipated wide release film of 2024 according to Fandango. Interestingly enough, since I thought that the lesson of 2023 was that people are sick of sequels and franchises, every single movie on the list of the top 10 most anticipated movies of 2024 is either a sequel, a prequel or franchise.

Well, I think that follows naturally. I mean, anticipation is based on prior expectation, and people are naturally going to have more expectations about familiar titles than unfamiliar ones. If a non-series film is a hit, it's often a surprise, so the anticipation wouldn't have been there. Which just goes to show the difference between anticipation and reality.

Anyway, I don't think you can say that all franchise films did badly, given that Godzilla Minus One is a hit (albeit a hit proportional to its low budget). It's a new interpretation of Godzilla, but it's still part of a nearly 70-year-old franchise.

Since when are people sick of sequels?

The answer is movies are expensive and people are streaming content now. I don't see anyone rushing to watch a bunch of indie films. Maybe all these armchair experts should take note of that

I just wanted to say that I opened a thread for an animated movie that I will probably watch at some point but that I only know because I watched the earlier movies with my kids when they were younger.

I am don't really like this series and will only watch the new installment (if I do) for completion's sake--but I will not go into that thread and comment negatively about the franchise nor say that I wish they would stop making those movies. You know, it doesn't really affect me if they make 15 more films.

I think the inevitability of this verdict is why Marvel never really bothered speaking out on the situation. They managed to get Loki season 2 in under the gun, and now it's a no-brainer that they will not be able to continue with Jonathan Majors.

Given that awful list, I can see why Deadpool 2 is on top. Most are wait for streaming. And with streamers dumping their content on Netflix, I see myself watching a lot of Netflix next year.
