But I'm still not getting why you're saying he's second fiddle other heroes being in his movie doesn't mean he's subordinate

No, but making said characters' presence in the movies central to their overall story or certain elements of said story - regardless of how much overall individual screentime they actually get - does.

NWH at least justifies things in a way that makes Stephen Strange being present mean something for MCU Peter as a character and that contributes to his growth; same with the characters from the Raimiverse and the Webbverse.

You pull Tony Stark, Fake Nick Fury, and Happy Hogan out of Homecoming and Far From Home (or at the very least greatly truncate their involvement) and those movies instantly become better (IMO) because then the focus shifts to where it belongs, which is Peter and his individual character arc.

My dislike of the general overall direction that the filmmakers chose to go in with the Tom Holland/MCU Spider-Man movies is well-trodden ground at this point, though, so I'm going to move on to other things, like saying that I'm currently watching Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and really enjoying it.

But Dr. Strange plays second fiddle* to Wanda and Chavez!

*According to some strange definition of "second fiddle", which means "is not the only actor in the movie"

But Dr. Strange plays second fiddle to Wanda and Chavez!

No.

Wanda is Strange's adversary in the film, and America is one of the film's deurotagonists along with the alternate-reality version of Christine.so their inclusion is not even remotely analogous to Tony Stark, Fake Nick Fury, and Happy Hogan's inclusion in the first two MCU Spider-Man films.

The film does demonstrate how to properly include important guest characters without having them overshadow the protagonist and actually have their inclusion matter to the protagonist's story via the Illuminati, though.

He's not, though, because of the decision to put Tony Stark, Fake Nick Fury, Happy Hogan, and Stephen Strange in movies that they didn't need to be - and shouldn't have been - a part of.

That's like saying Black Widow and Fury shouldn't have been in Winter Soldier or Widow shouldn't have been in IM2

Again, 'No'.

In IM2, Natasha is a background character whose inclusion had little relevance to or impact on the story, and in Winter Soldier, both her presence and Fury's presence are factored into the narrative in a way that enhances and complements Steve's characterization and character development.

*woosh*

That's the sound of M'rk's point flying over your head.

I didn't miss the point; I chose to reject its relevancy and refute it.

So which pre-existing MCU characters WOULD have worked in the MCU Spidey movies in ways you feel would fit, then?

It's not the characters themselves that I take umbrage with; it's the way that they were used.

Keeping Tony in the story of Homecoming would be fine, but limit his involvement to two scenes at most (the scene at the Parker apartment and the scene at the end where he gives Peter a formal invite to join the Avengers that Peter turns down).

For FFH, cut Happy entirely or limit his involvement to one voice cameo establishing his romance with May (if you want to keep that subplot), and either replace Fake Nick Fury with Maria and/or limit Peter's interaction with her or him (Fake Fury) to the beginning and end of the movie.

That way you're keeping the focus on Peter and not diminishing his character by having guest characters overshadow him merely by being present.

OK...i am waaaaaay behind, and haven't read page 657 and beyond yet.

Quick comment form previous regarding predicted failure of The Marvels -- when did pre-sales begin and when did the prediction get published? I was looking into presales in late September but completely forgot about it until the prediction link was posted here. I thought to mysel "It finally got on sale?? Since when?????"

i feel like there are afew competing factors. One if avor is that it is released on Veteran's Day, a holiday for many, so could get quite a few audience members they might have not otherwise gotten, but also Hunger Games Prequel is released the very next week... that will kill momentum....but MIGHT be able to rebound during Thanksgiving Week (which , in a first for Chicago Public Schools, will take off the ENTIRE week).

But speaking of that... i know people here mentioned that we ought to see it in IMAX.... but my further and essential question -- does it need to be 3D or is 2D IMAX sufficient?

I need to know as we have only like 1 IMAX in my area, and thus they switch between 3D and regular.

Thanks for your prompt help on this one

Given the erratically subdued state the box office is in these days; you'd have just as much luck predicting what will sell and what won't do well with tealeaves, chicken entrails and a ouija board than you would with industry predictions.

Just waiting and seeing is a more productive use of one's time.

I don't even bother with box office. It's a tiring topic (for me, that is). I'd rather talk about the movie itself
I mean...it's not really something I have much impact on. I watch a movie maybe once, or twice. That's about all the budget allows for in the theaters. So, my two tickets impact that?

Yeah, no so much. I'm sure others more passionate about watching it (or hate watching it) will make the difference.
