What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

I believe it does. And I believe it depends upon the story one is trying to tell and the pacing. I believe this story requires a running time that is longer than 90 to 98 minutes.

We don't even know any details about the story itself, so this entire statement is non-sensical.
Besides, you always say how the MCU sucks and you won't watch the movies. Why would you care about how long the movie is if you're not planning on seeing it?

Let's do the release date shuffle.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/marvel-tv-show-release-dates-1235580093/

'What If...' Season 2 finally arrives at Christmas.
'Echo' moves to January 2024.
'X-Men 97' moves to Spring 2024.
'Agatha: House of Harkness', sorry 'Agatha: Coven of Chaos', sorry 'Agatha: Darkhold Diaries' won't be out until Halloween 2024.
'Ironheart' has been removed from the schedule, so may not arrive until 2025, three years after it was shot.
'Daredevil' & 'Wonder Man' are unfinished so no clue about their future.

And if none of this suggests to Disney that maybe they should PAY THE FRIGGING WRITERS AND ACTORS what will?

How about that, actual news to discuss?! Hopefully that'll stick, when The Marvels featurette I posted didn't (a giant whoosh there!).

I'm glad we finally have a release date for What If...?, a show that I seem to have enjoyed at lot more than some people here. Can't wait for its second season.

Weird that they keep changing the name of the Agatha show. Coven of Chaos has been my favorite subtitle but that's not a big deal. I'm sorry we have to wait another year for it but I'm glad they're doing a timely release for it.

Also a shame Echo has been delayed if only because it's going to reignite the obnoxious "Marvel doesn't trust the show!" narrative. Even at this point, I would hope people realize that all of these delays are a result of the studios trying to deal with the strikes, instead of, you know, pay the writers and the actors. Alas.

Everything else seems to far off to comment on since everything else hasn't finished filming yet, although I hadn't realized Ironheart had already finished filming. Probably still have to do a lot of post-production which has inevitably been also delayed by the strikes.

I'm disappointed with the stuff being pushed back, but it was expected with the strikes. It's kind of annoying that we were finally getting a stable movie and TV release schedule after COVID fucked everything up, and now it's all getting refucked by the strikes. And the worst part is this time it's all because the studios are so damn greedy, at least last time it was due to something completely out of their control.

I hate stuff getting pushed back too. With Covid it couldn't be helped but the situation now is just embarrassing for the studios. They have lost the fight but won't surrender.

That sucks. I have been really looking to these.

One thing, if true, that might dampen my interest is the rumor that Xmen 97 isn't 2D but 3D like What if...?

I am wondering if they are just trying to figure the best time to show Echo.

Movie wise, they have Deadpool 3 (it's at least Marvel adjacent, so if it is really good, lots of attention) in May and Captain America in Late july.

On tV, XMen in spring and Agatha in October, so a big gap there. I am sure they don't want Echo to get lost beyween the "popular" / buzzworthy stuff.

And yes... i am with the SAG/writers guild.
Agatha and Halloween makes a lot of sense really.

Hope no one notices only the female-led shows have been pushed to 2024...
There's not a lot for the rest of 2023, though, right? Just Loki (female co led), Marvels (Female led)... and what if (gener neutral, right?)

Deadpool wasn't finished before the actors strike started so no chance of making its current date. Cap 4 might have finished (I'm not sure) but they wouldn't have done any of the usual preplanned reshoots/extra shooting.

I guess I made that too deadpan and should have added an /s or something. I was being facetious with that statement but I realize sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and should be better.

This might be disheartening for some to hear. Aside from moving to 2024 the animation style for X-Men 97 is supposed to resemble the "What....If?" series. It will not be 2D like people had hoped

#XMen97 moved to from Fall 2023 to Early 2024. For those expecting it to be 2D animation like the original, sorry to burst your bubble. Expect it to be like What If’s 3D animation.

Not a big deal since X-Men TAS wasn’t known for its crazy animation anyways. The character models look way better than What If because they’re based on 2D designs instead of actors’ likeness. Anime inspiration still holds true.

Hmm... Well, I'm not a fan of cel-shaded 3D (although there are some productions that manage to make it look almost as good as 2D), but as the quote says, it's not like the original show's animation was all that good. Most of the series was animated by Akom, whose work was notoriously sloppy, stiff, and ugly. Some later episodes were done by Philippine Animation Studios, whose work was more fluid and expressive, but much more cartoony and off-model.

What I'm wondering is how much the actors' voices will have aged in a quarter-century. They might not sound quite like we remember them.
