What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

So i just had a thought; it's perfectly possible that The Marvels will make more money than Shazam 2, The Flash and Blue Beetle combined.

Certainly would be one in the eye for the "Go Woke, go broke" brigade. (Wonder how they're coping with Barbie conquering the world?)

I'm already interested in the Marvels (I thought that Captain Marvel was a solid 8/10 movie, and the trailers have made this one look at least that good), but this idea just makes me smile and really hope it does great at the box office. The temper tantrums from certain parts of the internet would be hilarious.

I just saw the trailer for "The Marvels". The movie looks really looks good. But I've noticed that it features another non-white villain from the MCU. How many does this make in the last year or two? I'm not stating that the villains can only be white. But the MCU is beginning to form a rather disturbing pattern in its casting for villains.

By contrast, it's starring two women of color out of three leads with the major lead supporting actor being black.

And throw in the out of universe fact that the villain being a POC is another job for a POC actress.

Thanks guys ... because of your haterade, the algorithms thought this would be an appropritate ad. (Side note: it is funny to me how people who claim to love/value diversity can so easily dump those values when convenient).

So, anyway, the trailer and interview definitely makes me more excited for the Marvels movie. My daughters loved the ms Marvel series (i think it was pretty relatable in a lot of ways).

Now it's clear that Kamala will still have her fangirl attitude toward to Carol...but i am VERY curious as to the current of Monica and Carol.

Back in the day , Carol was essentially Monica's aunt, and the designer of the Captain Marvel color scheme.

But i wonder what has happened since then. Did Carol visit Maria when she was dying? (And if so, will we then see Lashana Lynch again, even for a couple of minutes?) Or was she off world most of the 5 years, so that Monica might be resentful that no one, not even her mom's best friend who did NOT get snapped, was there for her as she lay dying.

So that dynamic will also be interesting to see.

But just wondering how the strike will affect things. I think actors being able to promote the movie can go a long way in creating excitement (like this zoom one for me). I would hate for an excuse for it to fail...

Thaddeus Ross (in the form of Harrison Ford) is going to be the US president in the fourth Captain America movie? Oh fuck! I wish the MCU had gotten rid of the character by now.

Why? They haven't even gotten to Red Hulk yet!

Besides. You're not going to watch the movie, so why even voice a complaint for something you're not going to see?

You know, you're right. I won't be watching it. Still . . . I wish the MCU had gotten rid of the character. Pity.

This was announced months ago, have you only just heard it? You do seem to normally keep on top of all these franchises you hate..

This is just asinine. If all these streaming services need money, then do what Paramount+ actually does for Star Trek and just do real physical releases. As long as its, say, a year after the show airs on streaming I doubt it will effect the streaming numbers much, but would give them at least a decent chunk of the money they're apparently desperate enough for that they've started throwing shows into a bottomless pit.

For Disney this would be especially good for Star Wars and MCU stuff, there are so many fans and completionists that would buy real releases of Wandavision or, say, The Mandalorian that even in a weaker physical media market they'd probably make a decent amount of money.
