Spoilers Marvel Cinematic Universe spoiler-heavy speculation thread

What grade would you give the Marvel Cinematic Universe? (Ever-Changing Question)

The Dark World is still my least favorite MCU movie. It's only competition or even the only film to top it in raw disappointment would be Morbius and that's MCU-Adjacent, not a true MCU film.

Is Peter Parker (and his supporting cast) the only character who we have seen played by different actors in different universes?

By "his supporting cast" I assume you're counting Eddie Brock.

Loki's variants were played by multiple different actors (and an alligator). But I guess that doesn't count since he's a shapeshifter.

The existence of a Patrick Stewart version of Charles Xavier implies that the Fox X-Men film series is part of the MCU multiverse, which if so would mean that Pietro Maximoff counts. Also, if Runaways is a separate universe from the screen MCU, Tina Minoru would count.

Technically, several of the alternate characters in What If...? are voiced by different actors than their live-action counterparts, and some of them look different too. For instance, the What If...? versions of Black Widow seem to me to look more like Lake Bell, who voices them, than like Scarlett Johansson. So maybe that counts.

Makes me think Parker is the exception not the rule

I don't think it's either. Folding in the previous Spidey film universes, plus the Patrick Stewart Xavier, implies that Marvel is doing the same thing the Arrowverse did in Crisis on Infinite Earths and the DCEU is doing with The Flash -- treating all past film series as alternate universes in the multiverse. If there are Spider-Men who look like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, there is implicitly a Bruce Banner who looks like Eric Bana, Captains America who look like Reb Brown and Matt Salinger, Daredevils who look like Rex Smith and Ben Affleck, Punishers who look like Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane, and Ray Stevenson, etc. So there's probably a fair mixture of lookalike and non-lookalike counterparts.

I'm not sure if either would make an appearance but there are still many movies that have not been announced so it's possible Dr. Doom will get teased at some point.
The one advantage to Doctor Doom is since he wears a mask, we can get an appearance from the character before they actually cast him. As long as he doesn't talk, they can pretty much just throw the mask on anyone.

I'm available for non speaking roles where I wear a mask.

Hmm... That might actually be a viable Tinder profile...

If you are the ruler of an entire Kingdom i guess your chances on Tinder might increase dramatically ( if you can convince people that it's the truth) ;)

Dr. Doom could be an awesome villain for the MCU if done right, unfortunately the previous FF films haven't even begun to do him justice and i hope the MCU build him up slowly and not just a throwaway villain for a movie.

Unfortunately Marvel still has a problem doing proper villains and the few times they did it right the movies were a big success ( Loki, Thanos, Shang Chi's father for example) so fingers crossed.

Well, we all knew that someone, somewhere would find a reason to do it. Apparently, there are calls to boycott wakanda forever because.. *checks notes* because they didn't recast T'Challa.

This is apparently the "biggest attack on an a-list superhero in Marvel history".

I personally think they may be jumping the gun. If some of the leaked plot details are true, then...

Then Shuri will travel to the ancestral realm and encounter... Eric Killmonger.

If true, I suspect the first thing shuri would ask would be, where's t'challa?

My suspicion is that Killmonger will respond something along the lines of, "he ain't here", thus leaving his fate open and allowing T'Challa to grow into a legend.

So the "Spider-Man: Freshman Year" is part of the MCU dealio has been cleared up by EP Brad Winderbaum.

"It follows the pattern that you see in Captain America: Civil War. Down to Peter getting the broken Blu-ray player from the trash and he walks into his apartment for the famous moment where Tony Stark is waiting for him. But because of things that happen in the multiverse, it's not Tony Stark who's waiting for him there. It's Norman Osborn and that sends his life in an unexpected trajectory that collides him with many unexpected characters in the Marvel universe."

^ That Feige quote doesn't seem to support that conclusion.

“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before? We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”

I don't see that to mean they won't have its own origin story.

Fantastic Four will NOT be an origin story.

I think we're far enough along in the history of the MCU that it's been established that people with powers exist, so there really isn't a real narrative need to spend half a movie explaining how they got them. The FFs origin is simple enough that it can be condensed into a montage of news clips or something.

Haha. I accidentally deleted my original post while intending to edit it.
