So, the opening salvo of reviews for GOTG3 seem overwhelmingly positive.
I wonder how long before the excuses from the MCU Detractors will come in:
"It's because it's more Gunns' movie than an MCU Movie"
"No studio Interference!"
"No new characters, just the good old ones!"
"No SJW stuff...I mean yes it has nonwhite women who are competent but that's not SJW for...some reason..."

Wow, that is surprising...but also a little worrisome. He can be very hit and miss, although his season with Ali was mostly good. I wonder if he was brought in per Ali's suggestion out frustration with the way the production has been going so far?
You’d certainly imagine so, though IIRC everyone assumed that Ben Affleck had brought in his Argo writer Chris Terrio to write Batman v Superman and Justice League, but it turned out that Affleck had nothing to do with his being hired.
Fair point. I only brought it up since we know Ali is frustrated with the production.
So given how slowly he writes, another delay in the cards?
I hope this means that the movie is going more for the horror/suspense genre than the super-hero style.
You could well be right of course. Either way, if he gives us anything near the quality of S1 True Detective, we’re in for a treat. The less said about S2 the better (good performances admittedly). I haven’t seen S3
I thought Season 3 was fantastic.

S3 was as good as S1, a lot of what made S1 so good was Harrelson and McConaughey's acting surpassing the material.
It was a fantastic depiction of someone whose memory is failing and is simultaneously living in the present and the past. The interview structure was differently nuanced than season 1 in that regard. It recalled the "time traveling" structure of Slaughterhouse 5.
