I'm trying to figure out where the notion that The Fantastic Four: First Steps is actually set in 1964 - as opposed to being set in the present with society on Earth-838 just having evolved with a retro-futuristic aesthetic ala the future world of Fallout - came from.

Might be a Sliders situation. They once slide to a world were I guess time moved slower so it was still the 1980's even though everywhere else it was 1995 or whatever year that episode was made. In that universe it might still be the 60's but as far as most of the multiverse goes it's all present day.

I don't think about Secret Invasion, it's an absolute nothing burger.

Nick Fury has a secret shape shifting wife?

There was an X-Men Comic where they thought Wolverine and Marvel Girl were having an affair in a run down Motel 6, but it was just Mystique being kinky with her ex-husband.
Mystique and Wolverine were married in the comics?
Thank you.

I think that was a narratively unnecessary choice that also doesn't make sense, but we are where we are.

I'm just going to pretend that it's 2028 on Earth-838 for the rest of the movie (since I started watching it last night and have about a half-hour left).
I have a feeling that illusion is going to be shattered once Doomsday comes out, I can't imagine they won't address the fact that the FF are not only on a diferent Earth but also 60 years in the future.

It's possible that the two universes are not temporally synced. It's also entirely possible that Reed Richards built a time machine (as one does) to travel from the 1970 of one universe to the 2028 of another. Time will tell. Pun not intentional.

If they even bother explaining how and why the F4 end up taking the Excelsior to Earth-616 at all.

well its on a alternate earth in the multiverse where everything in the current is like the 60s

No it's not, officially it's set in the 1960s.

wait if fantastic four 2025 was set actually in the 1960s on there alternate earth as in its on a alternate earth set in the 1960s then how does the fantastic four fit in the up coming avengers 5 movie since the avengers movies universe currently set in the 2020s

like do the fanastic four 2025 time travel from the 1960s to the 2020s on there earth then they travel from there universe to the to the avengers movies universe

or do the fantastic four 2025 just do not age because of there mutant powers and they stay the same age from the 1960s to the 2020s on there earth and then they travel across the multiverse and into avengers movies universe

They're going to be traveling through time and the multiverse.
