Alonzo and Fraction on the "Inhuman" creative switch...

Alonso said--

"This is just an instance where we -- meaning Marvel and the writer, Matt Fraction -- came to the realization that we weren't on the same page, we probably never would be, and no one would benefit if we tried to force it to work," Alonso told CBR. "The series that Matt wanted to write would have been good, no doubt about it, but it was not the series we need to lay the foundation for this new universe within the Marvel Universe.

"The reason this [creative shift] came about a bit late is because of the mutual respect we've built over ten-plus years, and, well, because we really wanted it to work out," Alonso added.
Fraction said--
"As un-dramatic and uninteresting as it sounds, my version of 'Inhuman' wasn't what they were into and, y'know, it's their company," Fraction said, concurring with Alonso's take on the situation. "It's a legit case of 'creative differences' in spite of everyone's best intentions. After what? Five or six months where this has been my primary focus and we're still not on the same page -- I can't say they didn't try, they can't say I didn't try, and at some point, you gotta move on. It happens.

"It didn't make sense to continue working together on this book," the writer added. "I was not fired. I am not fired. I am still employed. We are all still friends. 'Inhuman' is a really big deal for all involved. You need to be moving as one."

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Is anyone here masochistic enough to purchase all 19 variant covers of Avengers 24 out next week?

I know some people make standing orders to collect all varients form the monkeys that work at their local, on the titles which they are interested in, but 19?

Seriously?

Frakk.

(I assume a directors cut edition will be out in a month or two, with 20 pages worth of a cover gallery and additional material.)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Who the hell is rich enough to afford that kind of garbage?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Even if they get an LCS pull list discount, like mine of 20% off cover, that's still ballpark $61 pre-tax for 19 variant covers.

Glad I'm more concerned with internal content.

We know "that Guy" at our local shop, we've seen him walking out of the shop with a long box under each arm, and we want his collection almost as much as we pity him.

Although if there's a special new cover for the directors cuts, can you imagine the perspex CCG icosahedron, they'd roll out as a complete set of Avengers 24?

Here's some of the covers...

(and some preview pages)

A lot of them seem to be homages/pisstakes of classic X-Men covers, and some old Avengers covers too. Why so X-Men heavy?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Not planning on getting All The Variant Covers here, no.

To celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the X-Men I imagine.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

At least carrying it over to the start of next year for some reason. They've been doing X-Men variant covers all year long.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

heh, most of those covers are pretty awesome.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I read Scarlet Spider #25 and like "Fearless Defenders" final issue it kind of ended abruptly and felt rushed, obviously it was hinting that Kaine and Arceley's story will continue (probably in the new New Warriors book) but it was still a little disappointing that there was no real follow up to the previous issue. Still will miss this book a ton.

Interview with Chris Yost...
How much story time passes between the end of "Scarlet Spider" #25 and the beginning of "New Warriors" #1?

It all goes back to that last page. When you pick up "New Warriors" #1 in February you're actually going to see a couple of scenes from this issue. It literally picks up seconds after that end moment where Aracely asks, "Why is the water red?"

So Kaine and Aracely are still in Mexico then when "New Warriors" begins, and it felt like you were laying the ground work in "Scarlet Spider" for a Mexico-set epic involving Aztec mythology that you never got to tell. Is there a chance we'll see that story in "New Warriors?"

If "New Warriors" gets past the first year where we kind of establish the team then we can get to a couple of "Scarlet Spider" stories that actually fit better in "New Warriors" than they would have in "Scarlet Spider." The Aztec story is one of those, and a very clone-centric story is another.

So if people want to see those stories they should pick up "New Warriors?"

Exactly. People who love Kaine should be reading "New Warriors" because he's a big part of it.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Just reading Origins II - At the stage, "Wolverine goes to live with some wolves" is maybe the most cliched and hackeyned thing to do with the character?

Couldn't he occasionally go and live with his namesakes - you know some actual weasels?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Weasels rejected him. Wolves were the only ones who would accept feral Logan ;)

I thought it was great. I'm really interested in seeing how Gillen uses Sinister in this. I'm guessing that bear was part of some experiment. Beautiful Andy Kubert art work again in this. I was pleasantly surprised, and I'm one of a few who loved the first "Origin".

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

the final panel twist was very cool and I was not spoiled on that. interested to see where that goes!

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Jim Starlin returns to Marvel and his most famous creation, Thanos the mad Titan, in "The Infinity Revelation", a 100-page OGN.

He credits Walt Simonson for facilitating his making peace with and working for Marvel again.

The story is supposed to be set in current continuity, but Starlin says that he hasn't even read the final issue of "Infinity" yet!

Also, the story will feature the currently deceased Adam Warlock!:techman: Warlock is one of my favorite Marvel cosmic characters, so his return to the land of the living is a good thing to me.

so glad that Adam Warlock is coming back.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

CBR did their top 100 comics of the year, and Marvel walked away with three of their top 10. (Daredevil #9, Young Avengers #5, and Hawkeye came in at #1!)

I have no arguments. I buy all three of those books!:)

Surprisingly, their top rated DC book, Batman, was all the way down at 20!
ETA: That's not quite true. Their is a DC/Vertigo title at #8. Scott Snyder's "The Wake".
