Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

aside from Rocket's inane 'Blam, murdered you!' dialogue i've enjoyed this run of Guardians so far. was nice to see Mantis show up in this weeks issue.

and like Guy, i'm wondering if Dazzler is really for reals dead.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

"Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Nova" have both been pleasant surprises to me. I've been very much enjoying them...and I originally had no interest in them when they were first announced.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. She's not dead, just drugged! Where are you guys getting this from?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

How long does Mystique want to pass as Alison to fulfil some mysterious gamibit?

If she needs hours, then Ali was probably drugged.

If she needs days or weeks, then the (living) body or (dead) corpse has to be extracted from the Hellicarrier.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Exactly how effective a super-spy can an internationally famous pop-star be?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

It's a political Appointment.

But if I may quote the indestructible Brock Samson "Look, David Bowie is not the leader of the league of Calamitous intent, it may look like David Bowie but it's Not. I've met David Bowie and he can't metamorphose into a fricking raven."

Did you never see 70s Saturday Morning cartoon Butch Cassiday and the Sundance Kids.

:)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

i'm ready for the whole Dimension Z storyline to end in Captain America. have not enjoyed that story at all.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

At least Remender will get rid of Sharon and switch her out for Wanda. It'll be interesting to see how they develop that.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I believe next issue is the finale of the Dimension Z story. Remender has been inconsistent on the book as John Jr's art has been. Ten issues for this particular type of story has been too long, and I actually liked the start of it. It's just dragged on though. I'm looking forward to what Remender has in store for Steve when he's back out...he mentioned it in Uncanny Avengers which I enjoyed quite a bit. The new artist will be interesting as well.

I wonder if those rumours about John Jr going over to DC will be true?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I liked the Dimension Z story. At least it's something different from the political conspiracy thriller stuff that marked the past decade of Cap stories. It was a breath of fresh air!

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

i'll take political intrigue and spy shenanigans over Cap fighting mutates and cutting Zola's face outta his chest.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

The book and character lends itself better to an exploration of politics and America. Really the most memorable moments of the character are either political or callbacks to the WW2 generation.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Dimension Z has been the best Captain America storyline since about half-way through Brubaker's run.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Reminded me of elements of Kirby's run in the 70s. Which had followed a 'more serious' and political run by Englehart and a few mediocre issue by various writers. Of course Zola was created by Kirby in that run and JRjr has a very Kirby design sense.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

That's another thing. I am sick to death of the WWII flashbacks and callbacks in modern day. And I love WWII in general :p They just keep hitting the same notes over and over. It was nice to see something different for once. And putting Cap in an alien dimension and giving him a young son is about as different as you can get!

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Steve became Captain America when he was 20. 4 or 5 years as Captain America and then decades as a capsicle. So how long has it been since the Avengers found him? 15 or 20 years?

Man out of time no more.

Marvel time is wonky. Could be anywhere from 10 to 20 years. (yet Franklin hasn't reached puberty). But playing the Man out of time card is a bit silly after a couple of years. Unless he's incredibly stubborn, he's acclimated. Being a guy who was physically and mentally in his mid-twenties when thawed out ( plus seeing also sorts of amazing tech before he was frozen) he's going to adapt pretty fast.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

But he doesn't understand MySpace!!!

No one has to any more.

Myspace has been losing relevance and market share consistently for years now.

Sally Floyd made the myspace comment at the rear end of the civil war.

That was 2007.

(Oh! You were being ironic!)

George was still the prez back then.

Dark times.

Steve Rogers on Marvel Time can outlive any flash in the pan fad (like myspace), and that fads children (like facebook), and that fads children (Like Tumblr) and...
