Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

He has an interesting approach to being a hero, but he's operating more like Batman.

Last time I checked Batman didn't kill people. Or have henchmen for that matter.
Kinda depends on how you define a string of Robins, Batgirls, Batwoman, Azraels etc. I suppose.

Simple other heroes Batman occasionally works with most of the time that used to be his sidekicks.

They even even usually have their own books.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Cheers for Uncanny Avengers tying into the Cap Am run! I'm not reading Iron Man, but in New Avengers they flashed to Iron Man in space meeting the Watcher and seeing the corpse of Eternity, did that happen in that book?

So, how come Shadowland has continued to exist in NYC all this time? Why haven't the heroes or the government done anything to stop this after the whole Demon Daredevil thing ended?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Journey into Mystery #654 - Second to last issue as Sif and BRB try to get control of the station where she was playing nurse mother to a very ill Gaea. While I had been enjoying the issue I did find it took me several pages to get back into the story. The art was beautiful once again. I even like BRB but this arc wasn't doing it for me. Others had bailed long ago sealing it's fate so this story isn't, or I'd think isn't, the reason for it getting cancelled. I do like Sif in a lead role and enjoyed the other issues prior to this arc.

Looked like the Living Tribunal to me.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Yes, right. I'm not familiar with those kooky Marvel comic characters.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

The Living Tribunal is the overseer of the Marvel multiverse, which includes 616 and all of the other realities within it. Considering that we've had a theme of the timestream and realities breaking down thanks to Age of Ultron and the stuff going on in Hickman's Avengers books, as we speed towards Infinity and Cataclysm, this doesn't surprise me that he would pop up.

Hunger #1 really surprised me with how good it was. Rick Jones! The Watcher freaking out, and the merging of Gal-Lak-Tus and Galen!

I sense a Crisis. ;)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I never considered how Prodigy's powers would make him such a whore.

Physically: He doesn't just know how to do sex well, how knows how to best enjoy sex done to him.

Emotionally: He's probably still as desperately in love with every man and woman who's been loved at by someone who's mind he has touched and absorbed.

Intellectually: Denial vs. selfactualization vs justification vs consequences.

Spiritually: Dude used to see souls. The exterior meat we obsess on is practically bullshit to his now lost perspective. Gender is just biology being obnoxious. If you take away the random chemicals pushmepullingme our peace of mind we're built from the same fundemental blocks.

Still.

Only complete dropkicks cheat.

People still read YA?

New Avengers is pretty much doing CoiE Marvel Style.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Having read New Avengers now...seeing the Living Tribunal like that...I'm assuming that this was a flashback to the second Guardians arc that is around the corner since Tony was back from space. The art in this book is just sensational. I do think this gets the nudge over "Avengers" as my favourite of the two.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

The Tribunal told/forced Adam Warlock wearing the Infinity Gauntlet to behave and get his shit together.

Omniversal trumps universal.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I could even see that trio of Deadpool minis tying into the greater crisis storyline.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I bought Guardians of the Galaxy #5. I bought it for the Gaiman content, but he's been downgraded from co-writer to consultant, and if there was any Gaiman content in this it doesn't show. Angela has all of about two lines of dialogue in this.

On its own, this is... bad. The final four or five pages are pretty impressive, as Bendis write a conversation between two characters we can't see on the other side of the galaxy while Pichelli draws Gamora and Angela beating the shit out of each on the Moon. And the cliffhanger is really good and has some relevance to the upcoming Infinity. But getting to that point is a lot of character moments that don't do anything to drive the plot. It's superficial.

If you're reading the series, maybe you'll enjoy this. If you're not already reading the series and were curious about the Gaiman factor, you can safely skip this.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Given Marvel's habitat of putting writer names on projects they didn't do, one wonders how much real consulting Bendis did with him.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

You're suggesting that the consult credit comes from inventing Angela 20 years ago?

Did Ali just die over in Uncanny?
