Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I read 1-2 of SHIELD, and it was very bizarre and interesting. It was also exactly like the Assassin's Creed games (which is a good thing!).

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I thought the same thing when I read SHEILD (except for comparing it to Assassin's Creed) I love the bizarre, esoteric nature of the book along with it's wide scope.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

According to wikipedia Nick Fury created SHIELD after WWII. How are they going to retcon that? Also, Galactus attacked Earth in the ?1500s? I thought FF 48-50 was the first time he came to Earth.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Supposedly, it was. SHIELD (and its sister-project, Secret Warriors) is a big secret history thing.

I'm enjoying it so far, though it could stand to really flesh out the characters; so far, they're basically just pawns that move around to elucidate the weird scenarios going on (Leonardo basically speaks entirely in movie trailer quotes).

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Yeah I'm reading Secret Warriors. They actually manage to make Hydra interesting. Though it's an odd disconnect with the Gorgon's first appearance in Wolverine Enemy of the State, where Strucker is this pathetic has-been totally whipped by that old woman who then has the Gorgon kill him.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I'm enjoying all of the Avengers books to one degree or another. I'm going to give Academy a few issues, probably through the upcoming T-Bolts crossover, before deciding one way or the other about it. I'm even enjoying Bendis' "oral history" chapters in the same way I enjoyed "Under the Hood" and other Watchmen back-up features.

I'm enjoying Secret Warriors, but I've decided that it's going to be one of those series where, after it's over, it'll be better to read the whole series over from start to finish.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I think I read somewhere that it's a limited run and it's going to end in the next 6 issues or so (Secret Warriors).

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

It has a fixed conclusion in mind, which I believe is 30 issues.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

It's funny. If someone had told me 10 years ago that I would one day be buying more Avengers books than X and Spider-books combined, I would have laughed at them. And yet, here we are.

I'm buying the four monthlies, Avengers Prime and will be buying Avengers: Children's Crusade #1 next week. That's six. Events like Second Coming notwithstanding, I'm only buying two X-books (Uncanny and New Mutants. I'm not going to bother with the big X-Men/Dracula thing that's coming up), and one Spider Book, (the soon to be dis-continued) Spider-Girl. Wow.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

If someone 3 months ago had told me I'd be buying and enjoying a Bendis written Avengers book I'd have laughed at them. But I really enjoyed the first issue of the new NEW AVENGERS.

Go figure.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Yeah, in the late 90s when I originally read comics I was all about the X-Men and couldn't give a crap about the Avengers. Now I'm all about the Avengers and only have a vague interest in X-Men just reading the big crossovers. Much as I dislike Bendis' constant talky style where everyone sounds the same... he writes a damn good Avengers book.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

The Avengers franchise grows larger still. A new monthly to be written by Fred Van Lente, as reported by Newsrama and Comic Book Resources.

Perhaps some sort of "cosmic" Avengers, with Hercules perhaps (as Van Lente is co-writer of Hercules)? Maybe spinning out of the upcoming Chaos War event (also co-written by Van Lente)?

Wow... that's a lot of Avengery books. Still, it's definitely THE franchise in the Marvel U at this point.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Hopefully it will feature Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Deadpool, as those characters don't get enough exposure.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Hahaha. Yeah I've been reading a lot of "Avengers" family books as well. I'm barely reading X-Men right now (just way too many books and finding myself not able to follow properly) and Spider-Man is meh which I find sad because he's been my favorite Marvel hero since I was four years old.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I've heard Avengers is the top seller now. Is that true?

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Has there ever been a story starring Spider-Man AND Wolverine AND Deadpool? Or would that cause the Earth to implode into a black hole?

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

MARVEL TRIPLE ACTION: starring SPIDER-MAN, WOLVERINE and DEADPOOL!!!!*
