How easy would it be to pick up the post-Secret Wars stuff without having ready anything set after the Civil War-Siege era?

you might be confused about some of the people running around as Captain America, Thor and Hulk. i don't think it would be too hard to pick up. just depends on what you want to read really.

Well, the new Hulk status quo literally just happened with his latest issue last week. And it was a #1, a good jumping on point.

So picking up most books now is probably a great way to start, as they all take place 8 months after Secret Wars so they sort of have to get new (and old) readers up to speed on the status quo. Other than that, Falcon is now Captain America (Steve Rogers is old) and Jane Foster is Thor, and Inhumans are the new X-Men. The rest is easy to figure out along the way.

I keep up with what's going on in the comics, so I have a basic idea of who's who, and a basic idea of some of the major events. I just don't know all of the details. Although, I think I might stick with the older stuff since it seems to be a bigger influence on the movies, and that was part of what I was most interested in. Not to mention that I've gotten myself pretty hooked on the post-Brand New Day Spidey stuff, and the Captain America stuff leading up to Civil War.

I'm interested in Civil War II and Apocalypse Wars just to relive old favorites, but Avengers Stand Off sounds incredibly small and boring.

I'm excited for Civil war II because I loved Civil War. I don't like the Apocalypse stuff very much, but I'm reading all the X-men titles so I'll probably be reading it by default, same with Avengers: Standoff.

Avengers Standoff sounds terrible. i hated the original Civil War and since Bendis is writing Civil War II i'm sure i won't like it. not crazy about the current X-books.

So far "Invincible Iron Man" has been pretty good and David Marquez's art has been outstanding. Best Iron Man artist since Fraction's run (yes that was a diss at Hand). "Standoff" doesn't interest me at all like the rest of you, but I am interested slightly at "Civil War II" and "Apocalypse Wars" since I'm reading all the books it is in. Double A described it in the vein of "Fall of the Mutants".

Iron Man has been pretty good thus far. Bendis is usually pretty good when not writing a team or event book. i'm just afraid he has crazy screwball things waiting for Mary Jane.

I'm only picking up Hercules and Spiderman 2099 from Marvel at the moment - and the latter just seems to have forgotten about the plot threads from the previous volume in favour of all-new ones, which is frustrating to say the least. I have to admit it's on the edge of being dumped for me -

It isn't like PAD to forget about previous threads...I wouldn't say that he has, just started new arcs. It pretty much is where it left off from Spider-Verse and the Secret Wars tie-in (especially with the introduction of Captain America). I'm loving it.

it just feels like they've left the Alchemax stuff behind with his ancestor and the woman who was important, but we never found out how - admittedly they have reintroduced the 2099 Captain America following SW and they are maintaining the thread about the 'other' prison.

Marvel's Fox battle plan doesn't make much sense to me. They cancel Fantastic Four to spite the movie, but they make a special Apocalypse event to play off of the X-men movie.

They're just trying to sell copy... the movie is clearly going to be a big hit and they want to capitolize on the new visibility of Apocalypse. Whereas the FF film was a massive bomb they wanted to distance themselves from.

I mean, they don't own the X-Men movies but the comics sell so there's still twenty X-Titles being published

Are you suggesting that Secret Wars was timed precisely to coincide with the a shitty movie almost 2 years out?

Deciding to delay the reboot, new issue 1, is totally to fuck with FOX.

Although... Marvel over played their hand.

Fantastic Four the movie was a thing for maybe 3 weeks, a long, long time ago.

Now what, Marvel thinks they're screwing with DVD sales?

They were always going to do something with Apocalypse for when "X-Men: Apocalypse" comes out. I just always figured that it would be the "ultimate end game" of Remender's run but that isn't the case now. As for their Fox battle plan...some sites are wondering if this is Ike maybe pulling back a bit which I find hard to believe.

You'll never hear me say Marvel timed out anything with Secret Wars. It's months late and working on issue 9 of an 8 issue limited series.

I'm catching up with years of comics leading up to the new Marvel universe and the collapse of the multiverse. With Marvel dispensing with all the other realities, has anything been said about Earth 199999, the MCU ? Is there an exception meaning there are still two realities ?

Secret Wars isn't done yet, but there still appears to be a multi-verse post SW, if the continued existence of Spider-Gwen and Spider-Verse is any indication.
