Marvel All New, All Different - Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I just had another though about young gay Ice Man.

Young Jean grey tells Bobby to stop being a pervert catter-hollowing at all the girls/women at the school.

He'd just yelped at the top of his lungs "I nominate Professor Majik as Professor of Hotness!"

Drake is like a less evolved version of Bluto from Animal House, but who cannot blame even a ounce of his behaviour on alcoholism.

(Remember how a Jedi Mind trick works?)

Jean "Why do you do that? You're gay."

Bobby "I'm not gay."

Jean "Yes, you are gay."

Bobby "Yes, I am gay."

(And then they hug it out because he's so much happier to admit that he is gay.)

Is it at all possible that for some obvious reason, like fair play and turnaround, or maybe to avoid another 15 years of continuous disgusting thoughts leaking in her direction about how he wants to motorboat the freckles off her boobs, that in that moment she "made" him gay?

Just flipped a switch.

Whammo he's gayo.

(Yes telepaths can do that, and I'm sure I've see it done somewhere else before in fiction, but it was making homophobes gay, not making tactless assholes gay. Although if it's just his orientation that has been fiddled with, and little all else, then Bobby is most likely to still be a jerk about how he likes/wants to objectify men too?)

This sounds like a first step, Marvel Girl is taking towards becoming the new Onslaught. :)

(Which is still better than being the old Dark Phoenix again.)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

final issues of New Avengers and Avengers...

four stars again, but I wanted to scream at the lack of resolution. They didn't really end anything they just set up Secret Wars.

I saw someone yesterday describe Hickman's Avengers and New Avengers as something like "a Secret Wars prelude longer than Neil Gaiman's Sandman." That wasn't meant as an endorsement. :)

But it has a resolution doesn't it? Most stories end with a resolution where the heroes win and there is a change to the status quo in the next arc.

The resolution here is that they fail and secret wars reflects the change to the status quo (and will surely have left-over plot points covered in it - never seen an arc in recent times that actually answers everything...)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I just read the last issue of FF. Given the fact that I haven't read any of this run it was surprisingly easy to follow. The only part that completely threw me was... WHEN is this taking place? Reed and Namor are both critical to Hickman's Avengers run dealing with the multi-versal crisis, but they're both here with nary a mention of that. If Namor is running around playing hero, is this prior to "Time Runs Out"? I was hoping for some lead-in to the roles Reed and Sue play in the "Time Runs Out" flashforwards but nope.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Secret Wars #1. good stuff. great art. I really expected to see more of the 616/Ultimate battle. Are there going to be tie-ins fleshing out that fight? Because according to this comic, the only thing the Ultimate universe had in its arsenal was a couple of Helicarriers and Iron Man. Where the hell was everyone else?! Where's their Cap or Thor or the rest of the Ultimates? (I don't read the Ultimate line, are they all dead or something?)

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

^ Some of that will probably be addressed in Ultimate End and/or the Secret Wars: Last Days tie-ins (which follow the last hours of various characters in the 616 universe).

http://www.newsarama.com/24091-ulti...-616-heroes-in-ultimate-end-1-first-look.html

I'm wondering if 616 Hulk will have a meaningful encounter with his antithesis from the Ultimate universe. Ultimate Hulk seemed conspicuously absent from Secret Wars #1.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

BTW I think some major characters appeared to be killed in this issue, which just further convinces me this entire thing is just going to get hand-wiped away. I'm sure they'll keep the multiverse and Ultimate universe dead, but 616-Earth and its characters probably going to be back to normal. I first got suspicious when Hickman killed off like three of his Avengers in a single issue and then it looked like Thor was going off to get killed.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

well, Rocket Raccoon won't stay dead.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Will they come back? is the wrong question because of course they will - will the characters be same or altered (changes to their history/back-stories) is the right one.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

From what I've read online, I'm wondering if we'll end up with a mashup universe. For instance, they ended 616 Fantastic Four because after Secret Wars they'll be replaced by a different version. It would also give them to opportunity to have Amazing Spider-Man, Superior Spider-Man, Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen all in the same universe.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

^ Spider-Gwen appears to be very popular. I wonder if they'll keep her and if she and Miles will be refugees from their respective universes. If they retain her in the new mainstream universe then maybe we're looking at the deletion from the timeline of one of the most iconic moments in Spider-Man mythology.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

I just want Ben Reilly back the original Scarlet Spider from the Clone Saga.

I'm not anticipating any major changes to the FF really. They'll just be back.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Lot of fans have predicted a merged universe, and after reading the FCBD "All New, All Different Avengers" it seems we're gonna have just that.

I wouldn't worry too much about stuff you read in issue one, we've all spring and summer to go with this plus all the tie-ins. What's really going to be interesting is September when we will see most likely the merged "new" Marvel U emerge from Battleworld.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

So the new Thor is confirmed as
Jane Foster

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Well, my "Spider-Verse" hardcover arrived today and I'm looking forward to digging in.

It has everything, but it's not chronological. Is there a chronological listing of the events/issues somewhere if one wanted to read everything in order?

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Well, I just stayed up to an obscene time in the morning reading "Spider-Verse" (And I even managed to read it in largely chronological order). That was just ridiculously fun.

Slott put my girl May-Day through the emotional wringer and she suffered some genuine loss, but she came through it a stronger character in the end. In fact, I waould venture to say that May-Day's arc was the emotional core of the story.

This is, to my knowledge, the first major usage of the character that wasn't written by May-Day's creator, Tom DeFalco, but Slott captured her voice perfectly. :)

And the pig! My god, I loved that pig!:guffaw: I wanna see a team-up with Spider-Ham, Rocket Raccoon and Howard the Duck. Make it happen, Marvel!

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Secret Wars #2. Oh, God. It's yet another alternate reality story where nobody is really themselves. That kinda kills my excitement. The other weird thing about this is 2 begins in the alternate reality, while 1 was the end of the previous reality. Why not start the mini-series inside the new reality? Why not have the climactic battle in the final issues of Avengers since it was the end of THAT story and this is a very different new story?

That being said, it is cool to see all the old what if stories mashed together like this. I like the idea of Doom as God. And the art is gorgeous. But it's not starring "real" characters and I always dislike that.

They fooled me with Thor #8. I never ever thought it would be her. I was convinced it was Thor Girl, damn it!

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

The new Thor reveal was too underwhelming. The plot and her identity had been telegraphed before the new volume even began imo.

Re: Marvel Now/ReEvolution Ongoing Discussion (Spoilers)

Everyone seemed to be thinking it was that SHIELD agent I'd never heard of. Or his mother at first.
