Can't say Kirby's 70's run on Cap was my favorite. So I'm less than optimistic about Remender's take.

The cover is pretty cool, even I have to admit that. I just don't think that Bendis will be even decent on this book with the premise, given his previous inability to write these characters. I get the gimmick of having the team time travel from the past to react to stuff going on in the present, but I don't really understand how this is going to impact anything in the long run. I'm going to give this a chance, but it is going to be on very thin rope.

With regards to Remender on "Captain America". He hasn't disappointed me on anything I've read from him yet.

His Secret Avengers run did not impress me.

Bendis said "not everyone is walking out of AvX alive"... I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the young X-Men are replacing their dead older selves. That's the only way that they can have them sticking around in the current Marvel universe, otherwise it would just get kinda lame with "It's Cyclops... and Old Cyclops!" etc.

I very much doubt that. Bendis also said the purpose for the original team to be in the present was to react to what was going on with their older selves in the present day. I have no doubt that we're going to be in for a big death come the finale, but I very much doubt that they're replacing their older versions. Jean has no one to replace. She's going to be affected most IMO. I have often stated that Jean would be horrified with what's been going on lately with Scott and the others in general. I've no doubt that her younger version will feel the same.

This book would be a whole lot more interesting if someone other than Bendis was writing it. That really is what has put me off of it.

The X-Men cover is well drawn but I'm just not sold on bringing them forward in time. We all saw Back to the Future...you can't run into a future version of yourself or the timestream will implode.

The "Back to the Future" way of time travel doesn't work the same way in the Marvel Universe as we've seen countless times. Tony Stark being a prime example of this in the first arc of the "Avengers" relaunch where they went into the Ultron future. Also Bendis has stated that potential continuity problems and the encountering of their future selves will be addressed right off the bat (supposedly, we'll wait and see if this is actually the case).

We've already seen an image of "Present" Cyclops alive in that Marvel Now promo image. In that silly red suit.

And redesigned helmet. As indicated in a previous page, Cyclops is the only member of the Phoenix Five we've seen post Avengers Vs X-Men so far.

That's too bad. At this point I feel that Cyclops needs to die. I haven't liked him since he was possessed by Apocalypse and that was like in 2000!

I haven't liked him since he walked out on his wife and child.

    That was 1986.

Re: Heroic Age/Avengers Ongoing Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I have said since the start of Avengers Vs X-Men that Scott could possibly die, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. Unless there's some big swerve twist that we don't know about and the man we saw in that original teaser is not Scott. I'm guessing not though.

This. The character assassination of Scott Summers has been a long running theme.

^The storyline has me interested for the simple fact that the Beast will no longer look like some melted blue lion. I wonder what power level Jean will be at?
