Marcia Lucas, the Oscar-winning editor of the original “Star Wars,” wasn’t very happy with Disney’s sequel trilogy. She said producer Kathleen Kennedy and director J.J. Abrams “don’t get it” and “the storylines are terrible” in an interview for J.W. Rinzler’s book “Howard Kazanjian: A Producer’s Life,” which examines the prolific producer’s life, including his time on the “Star Wars” franchise.
“I like Kathleen. I always liked her. She was full of beans. She was really smart and really bright. Really wonderful woman. And I liked her husband, Frank. I liked them a lot. Now that she’s running Lucasfilm and making movies, it seems to me that Kathy Kennedy and J.J. Abrams don’t have a clue about ‘Star Wars.’ They don’t get it.
And J.J. Abrams is writing these stories — when I saw that movie where they kill Han Solo, I was furious. I was furious when they killed Han Solo. Absolutely, positively there was no rhyme or reason to it. I thought, ‘You don’t get the Jedi story. You don’t get the magic of ‘Star Wars.’ You’re getting rid of Han Solo?'” Lucas says in the book.

From what I've read that Ms. Lucas said I don't disagree. The sequels were a mess and Episode I was a disappointment (to put it mildly).

Just one of hundreds of millions of opinions. Good for her for having one.

Oh and the wife of a man who's trilogy got ridiculed for years doesn't like the new trilogy made by her wife's former company but this time without him? I am shocked.

Good for her? When was the last time she was involved in Star Wars and why should I care about her opinion on the current fare?

Is this in reply to my "good for her"? If so, where did I say you or anyone should care what she has to say?

I thought my "Just one of hundreds of millions of opinions." would have given away how I couldn't care less what she thinks.

While the effort she put into Episode IV should be remembered and respected, her opinion past that doesn't mean much. she's free to dislike what she dislikes, but its not like her opinion at this point means more then any random person.

I'd say the same about Lucas nowadays, and he was obviously more involved with the franchise overall.

She’s not wrong. Killing Luke off in the second one was a massive mistake. Especially just after killing Han.

Why was it a mistake?
I imagine the majority of people wanted to see Luke do something substantial before they got rid of him. A proper action sequence like what we got in Mando.
I also think it was rather redundant after killing Han.
Personally I would have kept Luke around and then have him leave at the end of episode 9 to unknown space in search of something. That way you can still have Rey lead the new Jedi.

Mando happened 25 years before the events of The Last Jedi, Luke is at completely different stages of his life. And anyway I thought facing down an army of walkers, battling and fooling Kylo Ren and allowing this new trilogy's heroes to escape and inspiring a galaxy (broom boy scene) was pretty substantial.

I wonder if the prequels had been released 40+ years ago, and then the OT was made recently during the social media age how many people would have slaughtered Ep 4 for having Obi Wan, this one strong Jedi Knight from the prequels suddenly become an old man hermit who switches off a tractor beam then allows himself to be killed off shortly after.

There’s also the fact of where they took Luke; being a angry bitter old man, regretting all of his past decisions. Just felt very been there, done that. At the end of TFA I was hoping they were going to do something more interesting with him. Give him a good reason why he secluded himself other than just hiding and sulking.
