From the very beginning Star Trek embraced science and engineering, so there's perhaps little surprise that some of the first merchandise involved the technical. March's Challenge was to take inspiration from the swathe of Star Trek blueprints and plans that have been published and fan created over the years.

The Trek Art community stepped up to that challenge and we have SIX entries for you to study. And it looks to me that it's going to be a tough choice to pick between them, so this month you can vote for TWO.

The winner of the poll gets to sport the “Art Challenge Winner” banner below their name for the next month, and has the honor of hosting April's challenge.

Our Entries:

@aridas sofia - Matt Jefferies' Starfleet Garage

@Cyfa - The Andorian with the Rubber Ducky Room Tattoo

@gazomg - Cardassian Galor Class

@Lord Other - An Anton-class cruiser in a Matt Jefferies-esque blueprint homage.

Please, vote for TWO!! :bolian:

I feel like we already had this conversation at some point. I don't see how it's stupid, to be honest. The idea is to prevent being influenced by how many votes an entry already has. Seems pretty fair to me.

I understand that you're not voting in a contest where you yourself have submitted an entry and are thus curious how the voting's going. I get that. But weighing both aspects against one another it seems the fairness aspect is more important. Maybe others are disagreeing?

We could add an "Only view results" option in future votes.

If I edited it into this poll would it wipe out the current vote tally?

No offence, @gazomg, but I'm in the "to see the results, vote" camp. I must admit, sometimes I do find myself swayed or influenced by the results if I can see them without voting (in other 'Vote' threads here on the board), however much I try not to be. I prefer to vote blind so I don't get tempted to vote tactically (or similar), but's that's just my reasoning :)

Anyway, I'm so happy that we got such a fantastic turnout in the end! :bolian:

And Congratulations on the win @aridas sofia!

You will soon find yourself sporting the “Art Challenge Winner” banner and you have the honour of posting the main challenge thread and voting thread for April's challenge - 80s Animated Mash.

If you wish you can also add in an extra, optional sub-challenge to spice up the competition. (Although, to me, the 80s mash-up theme seems quite spicy already ;)).

Thanks to everyone who entered the challenge and voted, it turned out to be an excellent contest! :bolian:

Thanks! I am humbled, and gratified that folks found this particular contest so interesting. We managed to exceed even my expectations for variety and quality of entries. Cyfa and Michael showed us the unique spin on the subject I was hoping to see, gazomg gave us a real, honest to goodness “blueprint”, Starscape brought the old time practice of fan blueprinting up to date , and Lord Other created my personal favorite- an homage to Rick Sternbach in a format created by Matt Jefferies. Very cool indeed. I’m not sure how mine managed to rate among such fine entries but like I said, I’m happy it did.

I will get this month’s contest up tomorrow after today’s feasting festivities so everyone can begin posting.

I just stumbled across this. Congratulations! Trek blueprints are a cornerstone of my fandom, so this was just cool!
