Marc Scott Zicree Ressurects Captain Sulu Series

[Ryan Thomas Riddle]

Marc Scott Zicree, television writer who worked on Sliders, Babylon 5, and recently directed and co-wrote the NV/PII "World Enough and Time," stated on "Coast to Coast" that he is pitching a Captain Sulu series to CBS/Paramount, particularly the web division.

Honestly, I think the time has passed. The only way I think a Captain Sulu series would work is if Captain Sulu wasn't the focus, rather having him as more of a father-figure to a younger cast that is the center of the series. Kinda like how Picard was in the early days of TNG, where Riker carried the action of the stories.

It's problematic bringing a series back from the dead. I'd just go for a new cast so that they can start with an absolutley clean slate.

Takei is from old Trek. nuTrek is a different actor in a much younger Sulu world.
