Man builds own robot girlfriend!

From the creator's website at http://www.projectaiko.com:

Aiko's future abilities:

  1. Facial Expressions
  2. Make tea and coffee
  3. Feed me sushi
  4. Make simple breakfast: eggs and bacon
  5. If I lie my head down on Aiko lap, have her clean my ears with a Q-tip.
  6. Ability to massage my shoulders and neck.
  7. Able to do print and write
  8. Clean the windows
  9. Dust the shelves
  10. Clean my toilet. (I hate cleaning the bathroom, might as well have someone else do it for me)
Okay clearly he wants someone to cook and clean for him, but couldn't he just hire a maid? Then again I suppose a maid wouldn't clean his ears out for him!

This is like the creepy "RealDoll" thing times 100. Jesus Christ, he could have hired a roomful of hookers for the money he spent on that thing. There are better ways for desperate people to get laid.

Haha, I remember seeing that on HBO. Those things are freaky.

She looks like a bit too childlike.

Yes, but consistent with the adult manga style that is typically found sexually attractive in Japanese culture.

I think it's freaky looking. Reminds me of the child's robot in "The 6th Day."

Okay...wow. I am by no means a "stud" or anything like that, but I certainly have no problem getting laid on a regular basis. It's probably due to the fact that I have few sexual hangups or moral restrictions and that I don't believe in long-term relationships. I mean, couldn't this guy just go to a titty bar and find one of those hot Asian chicks who dress like school girls and then use that coin he dropped making this fuckbot to get him some tail? Really, it's not that hard. Alcohol and money can make all the difference. -Dan

I missed your post, but yeah, exactly my point. And not even "desperate" people. Just a person with some confidence, good hygiene and some decent fashion sense, money, and the will to get some ass. I just don't see why it's so hard. -Dan

Okay, I'm still thinking about this...imagine he makes her able to receive his manhood for some human/robot action. Then imagine she overheats...or a piece of sharp metal springs free while he's inside...wow. It's like that horror movie with the girl whose pussy had teeth. Or maybe not. My point is, outside of the slight risk of VD and whatnot, the real deal with a real, soft flesh and hot-blooded woman is not at all dangerous (unless she wants it to be) and is much, much more fun. This poor bastard is missing out. -Dan

I'm not defending that guy, but it was because he was missing out that he built the thing in the first place.

(I'll also give you a bit of advice, you should edit all of your replies in to one post rather than replying to each person in a separate post. It's considered spamming here and can end up in some unpleasantness. :) )

Wow...normally, I only hear stories like this on SNL or The Onion. What gets me though is that the man lives with his parents and yet has $20K to sink into his robot girlfriend? I don't know, perhaps if he got his own place that might raise his real prospects? Speaking of parents, what's the deal with his? They aren't the least bit concerned that their son may have gone off the deep end just a wee bit? Oh well. Perhaps its for the best. As other people have indicated with his list of furutre upgrades, this man isn't looking for a mate- he's looking for a maid that will treat him as though he's 6-years-old again.

Hey, thanks. I didnt realize that was considered spamming. That's how I respond on a few other message boards I visit. So what if I want to reply to more than one person's post? -Dan

Yeah, my first thought was that she (should I really be calling it "she"?) looked like she was 12. My second thought was that he probably could have gotten an apartment by himself for $20,000 instead of living with his parents.

He built himself an Asian version of this.......

If you want to reply to say, three posts for example, just click on "Multi Quote" for the first two and then Quote for the third. The board will automatically quote all three for you.

Oh...I didn't notice that option. Thank you sir! -Dan

As these things get more anatomically correct and lifelike I wonder will we draw a line. Like making it illegal to create robots that appear as prepubescent children. And when will the five rules actually come into play?

As it is, this is not the ground-breaking development (from a lay perspective, anyway) that some have made it out to be. It's just a glorified (and somewhat disturbing) man toy. The new Elmo toy does just as much.

And even from a practical standpoint, why would anyone necessarily want a human-like robot maid? Why not design one to be the perfect cleaning machine, without concern to whether it's human-looking. A Roomba for the next generation.
