One thing I've noticed, and this could simply be due to seeing these scenes out of context, but where is the Queen? We see Maleficent in the castle talking to, I assume, King Stefan...but where is his wife? I know in Sleeping Beauty she was never given a name, but she's still Aurora's mother. Where she at?!
Will this film tie into the existing Disney version of Sleeping Beauty, or is that intended only to be a way of framing the story about Maleficent specifically?
I'm thinking Oz, Frozen, and now Maleficent look like attempts from Disney to do their own version of Wicked since they don't actually own the rights to that thing.
Definitely some changes to the "Sleeping Beauty" story (for one, Maleficent never actually found Aurora before she pricked her finger, so I'm not quite sure how they can be having a conversation), but I'm still really intrigued.
