So, knowing the approximate speed of the gyre rotation of that ocean should give them a better idea of where the crash occurred, yes?

Maybe they need to start counting 777's ?

Clearly this part was tossed into the ocean by whoever took the plane in the first place.

What amazes me is that we can locate a slain lion in the middle of the African desert because the lion was geotagged.

To which I ask, why isn't every major component of a passenger jet airliner made to include these kinds of geotags?

They have to be sure the flap is from a 777. Then it'll be obvious.

They are certain it came from a 777, but they "can't be 100% sure it came from that 777".

It had to come from MH370, or it was placed there.

Since this was a French island that obviously narrows down the list of suspects. :)

I hadn't realized that they had found three pieces, one of which indicates that someone was definitely not trying to land the plane when it went down. I also hadn't realized that they confirmed that the plane spiraled down into the ocean at high speed. How terribly scary. However, it sounds like the passengers and crew may have all been incapacitated before the plan actually went down.

I thought there must be some new conspiracy theory before I realized that "plane" was meant instead of "plan!"
