Personal ownership of Arms isn't contradictory to "canon" in any way.
Not an answer, and not what I said. But you just carry on making irrelevant claims based on bad logic.
And "head canon" is gibberish.

Wow, you must be real fun at parties. And "head canon" is gibberish.
Just the arms looks kind of dumb.IMO, all Citizens of "Good Standing" have a "Natural Right" to bear arms.
Nah, Cybernetically mountable Bear Arms are superior.Just the arms looks kind of dumb.

Surely you'd want the whole bear costume.
It's not an interpretation at all. You can only have a "natural right" to something that exists naturally. Since the weapons that are being discussed in this thread are manufactured rather than existing naturally, one can not have a "natural" right to them. That's your interpretation, not mines.

You appear to be claiming that one should have an unquestioned right to these weapons, and that's a debate I'm not really interested in getting into right now, but whether or not one has a right to these weapons, they can never have a "natural" right to them. Common sense.
All that being said, regular citizens having their own photon torpedoes for "personal defense" does seem like overkill. Exactly what sort of situation is an ordinary citizen going to get into that they would even need a photon torpedo?

Or Super Soaker with a Stun Gun Rod at the end to transmit Electricity through the water onto the person. When developing more futuristic weapons for my own writings my basic idea is one that can disable without killing an assailant. So, I've leaned more towards either electrical based weapons that don't need cords, or a more graviton based weapon that can repel boarders literally. My goal is to take the relative simplicity of modern firearms, use that as a basic framework, and create a different power sources to generate either an electrical arc or a compressed push wave to knock assailants down.
If not that, then sound.
Not exactly affordable or portable. Incredibly complicated & needs way too much tech to operate.Box-Loaded Anti-personnel Area-denial Kinetic-energy Sabot UraNium-Depleted ArtillarY (BLAAK SUNDAY) Device:
(Because evil weapons --sorry, I mean "friendly multi-purpose tools which have no evil purpose beyond what is imbued by its user, and which is anyone's natural right to own no matter how dangerous"; we don't want to set-off any easily triggered* people with firearms by committing friendly fire with the wrong joking word after all-- need a clunky initialism first and foremost)
Carried on a tracked armored vehicle like the M270 MLRS or on a more conventional military tractor-trailer truck for urban warfare deployment, this consists of a ~six meter wide box filled with a thousand 5mm ultra-dense depleted uranium light armor piercing flechettes with pop-out stabilizing fins mounted inside their own slightly adjustable firing tubes. Each box with a thousand rounds is back-plated by a shaped charged layer of C4 plastic explosives and detonator caps (more advanced models may be electrically fired), and behind that is a thick layer of discardable composite armor to protect the next layer of 1,000 flechettes, and so on going back up to ten salvos.
Unlike other armored vehicle artillery, this is not a long-range weapon, but is specifically a short-range line-of-sight area-denial anti-personnel weapon designed to killed a massed crowd or enemy formation threatening a fixed position.
After the user identifies the kill box by marking it with a rectangular targeting box on the included touch screen, the onboard computer ties in with the vehicle's multi-spectral sensors (IR / LIDAR / RADAR, etc.) and subdivides the kill box into smaller zones which contain bio-signatures most likely corresponding to human-sized targets. It assigns an equal number of flechettes to each recognized target and adjusts the firing tubes in each salvo accordingly to point at each target.
The explosive shaped charge then goes off and a thousand tiny fin-stabilized darts head downrange at hypersonic speeds with a horrendous wail and take out every target in the kill box with dozens of individual flechettes each. Body armor and light vehicle armor is defeated by the enormous speed and density of the rounds, all striking on a single ultra-sharp point.
This weapon would no doubt by immediately outlawed by those pussies with their Geneva Convention, which is why we are reselling this as the perfect Father's Day gift in 'Murican home defense. Granted, it's about the size of a house itself, but no Karens or Chads from the Home Owner's Association are going to fuck with you when you're sporting a semi with this in your driveway; double entendre intended. Order now, and get a free pair of Truck Nutz to mount on the back!
* See what I did there? Waka! Waka! (Fozzie is all about the natural right to bear arms).
Sounds messy.Or Super Soaker with a Stun Gun Rod at the end to transmit Electricity through the water onto the person.
I'm not.If you're just sadistic, go to the Mirror Universe, steal the tech & blue prints behind the Agony Booth.
Yes. Yes, I would. You try hunting gormaganders with a Daisy Red Ryder. when it's First Contact Day, and everyone has already gobbled up the First Contact Day Salmon and the kids cry out for vacuum-cooked gormagander, are YOU going to let them down?
I'd say you must be a blast at parties, but I'm afraid you would take that as a serious suggestion as well. Not exactly affordable or portable. Incredibly complicated & needs way too much tech to operate.
The Maintainence makes it impractical for anybody without deep pockets.
