MadUniverse Galaxy Class

I'm not sure what the design philosophy of the newly christened MadUniverse is, but I'm guessing the idea is still that this would be several generations removed from the JJprise redesign? In which case I'm wondering if the nacelles shouldn't more loudly scream "OMGtehAwesome!!" Just saying. The saucer and secondary hull sufficiently fit the bill, IMO.
Yeah, that's one thing I'm thinking about, with the nacelles... I'm thinking of going with a boxier shape, with more severe angles, and deeper Bussard collectors.

As far as MadUniverse goes, that's just short for "Madman's Universe" :) I just call anything that I build that, if it's not something that already exists. :)

Well, the windows are back! I took more of Andrew Probert's advice, and widened the openings of the cutout sections. On the bottom, I used the outer row, instead of the inner one this time, because I make the bottom of the saucer flatter. They're actually inset, and not visible from the side view at all. They'd be the place to be, when the ship is in orbit of a planet, though. :)

Going to head back to the warp nacelles, then impulse engines. :)

Heck, can't we all now just say "oh, well, Nero messed up this time line too, so...this is what everything looks like here!"?
Works for me.

Just a thought, what about some configuration of door/panels/lids that close over those pie-cut windows?
The panels could be flush with the saucer surface when closed.
(have no idea why...battle stations, warp, "cool moving parts"?)

Eagerly awaiting the next update.

Hey guys... Its back from the dead!

I started roughing out the new nacelles, and I think I have the shapes nailed down. Basically, I'm trying to echo the shape of the "V" shape of the Saucer. These are also quite a bit flatter than the old ones, too...

What do y'all think? The idea is that the front is going to be red, and fade into the black part. Same with the back, it'll be blue, and fade in. There is the grille there, that will be a dark copper color to contrast a little with the black part...

Now that I have all the shapes figured out, it's time to start detailing it up :)

Looks very good! The new naceles fits much better with her, but you could make tha back side a little more rounded, not to much as the Ent-D naceles, but a middle way between her and your version. ;)

Taking inspiration from the fanfavorite from the DTNE contest?

Not consciously... which one did you mean?

Pretty Ship :) :techman:

Thanks. :)

Yeah, I probably will. I'll probably tweak the grille parts too... maybe have fewer of them, but wider, so that they actually show up in renders like these. :)

More later on...

These nacelles fit a lot better, definatly taking their cues from TNG, but new. Works very good for a reimagened Galaxy Class. Well done!!

Interesting... Somehow I missed that one. Strange that they look so similar, though. :)

Should have some more stuff tonight... Gotta have hood scoops on them, somewhere. :)

^"They" who?

If your talking about Fuzzy modem's Ent-F and Madman1701's Galaxy class, you're right. If you're talking about the detail of the bussard and intercooler on said ships I suggest you look at more images of Fuzzy's Ent-F. It's pretty damn close in design. But not a problem. Concurrent design is bound to happen.

Yep, it's almost scary how often it happens. :)

Anyway, they'll look quite a bit different when I texture mine. :)

Working on the hood scoops, now...
