I would change the viewing angle of the station. Right now it looks like a VERY large surface installation. Still a great image though!
Also, keep in mind the shuttle/ISS orbit at a pretty low level, 200-300 miles.

Hmm... I didn't think about that.I would change the viewing angle of the station. Right now it looks like a VERY large surface installation. Still a great image though!
How far do you think the Starbase should be orbiting, based on what the visuals from the movie? That's something I've never really thought about...I would change the viewing angle of the station. Right now it looks like a VERY large surface installation. Still a great image though!

I tried to keep that in mind... on both of my monitors, the shadowed areas are dark, but you can still make out details. I'll check it on my work monitor tomorrow...Maybe I did go too far.I LOVE the Saturn image, but the last version you did of it looks too dark... too much of the lower saucer's detail is wiped out... keep it a bit lighter... because even at that angle, there WOULD be light on it, as some of Saturn's rings are comprised of ice chunks, or icy rock... which light from the Sun and Saturn would reflect off of.

OK, here's what I was thinking... I think as far as lighting and arranging, this is OK. My crappy station windows don't hold up at this distance, though. I'm going to tweak that some... I also made a new Starfield, by doing a new tutorial.

Hmm. Never tried.Okay, seeing that... can you render out to cel-shading?
Well, I can, if I go and make new textures with a special shader on every object.Okay, seeing that... can you render out to cel-shading?
I thought you gave up on this stuff. If the cel-shading works...
Anyway, as for my part of this beast, I have no idea how we're going to spec this thing. One of the modelers gave a 2000' size for the Enterprise, which is pretty high on absurd. None of the sets match the exteriors, and every CGI shot I can find has a scale issue (some worse than others)...
Maybe I'll just start with the bridge dome...
That's more like it.
I must say, seeing your work evolve over the past 6 months has made me think that even I could model some stuff.
I knew you couldn't stay away for long......
Hmm... money always changes things. Mom figures do also.I knew you couldn't stay away for long......
Depends on WHAT I do at this point, and I haven't fully decided... but I did have an amusing experience this weekend...
1) A family friend that was very important to me growing up actually demanded that I do Trek stuff for her. (Hard to argue with a mom figure...)
2) Other people offered money.
