Mad Max Fury Road bluray question

Finally watched Mad Max Fury Road on bluray. Good film, highly enjoyed it.

However, at times I found the image a bit jittery, like during Max' escape through the tunnel in the beginning. Is that deliberate? I don't think there was an issue with my player. I found it highly annoying at times really.

Yes, that's a deliberate effect. They fiddled with the shutter speed to achieve that look. Essentially it reduces or eliminates motion blur, which is why the moving image appears sharper and somewhat jittery. It was also heavily used in “Saving Private Ryan”, for example.

I can't say I found it annoying, though. I loved it on the big screen. Thus far I have bailed on the blu-ray, though, as I am holding out for a version with more bonus material.

George Miller tends to speed up a lot of shots too, which exacerbates the "missing frames" look.

Missing frames, that's exactly what it looked like. I had to watch another bluray afterwards to make sure my player wasn't funky.

The 'speed-up' shots I actually liked, really reminded me of the old Mad Max.

I'm just curious, have you seen the previous Mad Max films? That style is a staple of the series.
