Mac equivalent of Photoshop?

All right, I used to use Photoshop for all sorts of stuff on my old computer. Last month, I bought a Mac, and I don't have Photoshop anymore. Does Mac have an equivalent program, or can I buy Photoshop for my Mac?

Adobe's Creative Suite (of which Photoshop is a part) is available for PC and Mac. It's actually the professional tool for image manipulation in the industry.

Actually, Photoshop started out as a Mac application back in the OS9 days, before it was ever brought to Windows.

This has ended up being a bit of a problem, really.....their code is all based around the Carbon API, which is being superceded by Cocoa. What this effectively means is that we may not be seeing Photoshop available for 64-bit Macs for a while yet while they rework things a bit.

All levels of Photoshop are available for the Mac, from sub $100 Elements (which is all most people need) to the full blown Creative Suite.

also available - MS Office, Firefox, Solitaire and Minefield.

you can also instal Windows and run your old photoshop if you wish.

NeoOffice is free and works just as good, if not better, than MS Office. It can save files in multiple formats. I love it. Right now, I'm trying to find a decent replacement for Quicken, which I used on the PC.

I'm fairly sure Quicken is available for Mac.....

Honestly, not that big a fan of NeoOffice. I use it because it's the best I've got, but I find it a bit slow.

I do know that Quicken is available for Mac; however, it sucks. I'm using Quicken 2003(?) and even though it states files can be exported, it won't do it. While perusing the Internet for support and/or answers, I've come to learn that this is very common with products from Intuit and that customer service is non-existent. So, I'd rather get something more stable and reliable.

I'm fairly sure OpenOffice.org 3.0 performs better, but without a mac to actually try this out myself I can only say what I read about... perhaps I should just get out of this thread before someone posts one of those awfull mac/pc ads.

Photoshop was invented for the Mac in the first place.
If you ever want to know this sort of thing all you need do is a google search dar

Wait a minute... there is a version of Photoshop for Windows? When did they port Photoshop to Windows? :wtf:

The computing world move so fast these days. I bet they'll have a Windows version of Excel soon too. :techman:

Yep NeoOffice is fairly old and iirc was a fork from OpenOffice at a time when there wasn't a full port for OS X. Since then Open Office has been fully ported to Mac and runs very well.

And Apple sold systems that could run PC operating systems (like Windows/DOS) on them the beginning of 1994 (Macintosh Quadra 610 DOS Compatible, followed by the Power Macintosh 6100/66 DOS Compatible and Power Macintosh 7300/180 PC Compatible).
