Luke Cage-- Marvel/Netflix

Makes sense given the casting and the sort of roles those people are described as.

I've never seen The Wire, or know anything about it besides the name, but as long as its nothing like Jessica Jones or Daredevil, I'll be happy.

Some of the crime aspects of Daredevil, I believe, were compared to The Wire. I suspect this comparison would be for the other aspects involving life on the street as well as the politics aspects. I think it's the best program to emulate unless you're going for a Black Dynamite feel.

New footage here, as well...

I was hoping they'd fit WuTang Clan into Luke Cage, so that first one made me excited.

I'm wondering if this will take place after Jessica Jones and have flashbacks to his origin OR just be all prequel to Jessica Jones and if so does it overlap at all with DD S1 timeframe. Also the DD S3 announcement and Defenders tease were nice!
Looks really good, can't wait!

Crazy to think we're just two months away from more Marvel/Netflix goodness.
These Marvel Netflix threads are usually tough for me, because once the episodes arrive, I usually try to spend a week or three to watch and savor them all. So of course I avoid these threads to avoid spoilers, and then when I'm finally done watching, there are hundreds of posts to catch up on.

But I just realized that might not be the case for Luke Cage. Looking at the release date, that's right at the height of the fall new tv seasons. So I may just try to finish Luke Cage off quickly, before getting bogged down with too many other new tv seasons.

Sounds interesting, I'm curious how they're going to do that.

Well, lots of shows have included nightclubs as regular hangouts for their casts or even businesses run by their cast members, so as to have an excuse for featuring popular bands and cross-promoting with their albums. This was particularly common on The WB and The CW. Buffy had The Bronze, Charmed had P3, Smallville had Lana buy a movie theater and turn it into a club, etc.

(UPN even asked the producers of Enterprise to find some excuse for having bands perform on the ship. On this small starship probing unknown space far beyond where humans had ever gone. That's one fight I'm glad the producers won.)

Heck, Luke Cage is set in Harlem. That's a community that's long been known for its music scene, ever since the Jazz Age. Luke could be a regular at a popular nightclub, or maybe he could run one himself, as an extension of his bar-owner role in Jessica Jones.

Oh, sorry. My computer was being jumpy and I must have cut before it changed tabs. Fixed it.

Looks promising, which is saying something for me considering I was never interested in Luke Cage in the comics. The inclusion of Alfre Woodard and Mahershala Ali helps, too.

For some reason, I hadn't realized Theo Rossi was going to be in the show, too. Hopefully his character isn't as stupid as Juice.

I was hoping this might move away from being "Netflix dark". It makes sense for Daredevil but I find that show hard to watch sometimes. Especially if you're bingeing, you want someone to turn on the lights after a while.
