lucky hairs

anyone else have 'em?
twice as long as the rest, and absolutely colorless?
I have one on my left hand

what is the correct term for 'lucky hairs'?
why do they exist?

My hair is rather long and nearly black, but at the front left I have a distinct long lock of silver hair thats been there for years, I think it kind of counts.
