So if Uhura chat happens in the Chapel thread, and Chapel chat happens in the Lt. Kyle thread.. Do I go to the Cmdr. Giotto thread to chat about Kyle?

Yeah this is where I'm coming from. Chapel had hidden depths that are apparent from her appearances. In Operation Annihilate I can imagine her having a heated debate with McCoy off camera about the state of her research and the dangers of charging ahead too recklessly. In TMP she uses the same technique she used on Garrovick to bluff the Ilia Probe and fools fans for years who speculate how she could possibly have known about the headband.
I just want them to build around her existing character. It would take all of 15 minutes to review all her scenes after all.
Kyle is trickier because he was just so chill. He doesn't really have strong defining scenes. His most defining traits are his English accent and amazing fringe.
As well as an asian Kyle we have a black Robert April now....

I’m way behind on SNW news, but I’m just glad that April and Kyle are in this show at all. I don’t mind that they cast them as they did. I think the only character decision I’m perplexed by is making one of the new crew members a Khan descendant. (Who asked for that?)

Unless the ethnicity is actively part of their biography, who cares? Kyle in TOS was born where? Nowhere. Who are his parents? Nobody. He was an extra.

But he spoke, so he was not technically an extra, which is a non-speaking part [https://www.centralcasting.com/different-tv-types-of-acting-roles/]. That means recurring or day player (probably this, I'd think). Minor character, in any case. Could have been anybody.
I'm the last one to complain about more diversity on screen, but they are making it hard really to believe their claims that this is in the prime timeline...

Too bad they missed it, especially with Kyle being in "Space Seed." Could have referenced Botany Bay.

Some fans are making it impossible to entertain them by holding out ridiculously specific expectations.
Just nail this to the wall next to your TV set:
- Nothing I see will look like it did on TOS.
- Nothing I hear will sound like it did on TOS.
- A lot of story details will not be consistent with TOS.
The show may not be for you. Or maybe, you'll change your mind.
Supposedly John Winston (originally from Leeds, Yorkshire) was doing a Cockney accent as Kyle, but people said it sounded more Australian. There are just as many fanon references to TOS's Kyle being English as being Australian.
The script for "Beyond the Farthest Star" (TAS) mentioned that the character had to be voiced with a British accent.
It's ridiculous to cast people who look at all like previous iterations of the character in the prime universe prequel show?
That bodes well for the show if they can create a minor character who is more interesting than the whole cast of TMBS.Similar threads
