Lower Your Interest Rate Scam Phone Calls

Anyone know how to stop these people from calling? I get about 1-2 a day almost and it is getting almost annoying. If they know our credit is good, why do we have to lower our interest rate? Also, everytime I talk to someone about not calling anymore they just seem to hang up on you. Any way to report this stuff so it can stop? These people should be put in jail.

First, make sure you're on the National Do-Not-Call Registry.

Then, next time they call, simply ask them to remove your number from their system and do not call again. State that you are on the DNCR, then hang up.

If they persist, you can file a complaint with the FCC or FTC.

Okay,

Next time they call, tell them you want to talk to one of their Managers and inform the Manager that they must cease and desist calling your number. Also, inform them that under the National Do Not Call Registry, they are legally obligated to comply. If they hesitate at all, inform them you will be reporting this incident.

Hope this helps.

It does, but they still manage to call every day and it's always a different number on the caller ID. And my number is on the do not call list too.

At the very least start noting every single number they call from, as well as what company they claim to represent. That information will be necessary if you want to make a complaint.

File a complaint.

If they call again, just say, "I've already filed a complaint with the FTC (even if you haven't). Call me again, and I'll sue you." Then YOU hang up. I find that usually does the trick.

That's great if you live in the US, what about getting those annoying calls from the US when you don't live in the States?
other than tell them to lb sand.

This is why God created call-screening, no?

It is indeed, along with voice mail.

In fact, I wonder why we have a land line anyway. If someone is going to call us, they're going to call our cell phone.

If I don't recognize the number, it rolls to voice mail. If it's legit, I call back. If not, I don't. Pretty simple, really.

Next time you get a call you don't like, try something like this. :guffaw:

I dumped my landline years ago. Don't miss it a bit!

I get those calls on occasion. Usually pretty entertaining, what with having no credit card balances, so wondering what they're trying to save me from :)

Occasionally try to get them to stop, but annoyingly they usually hang up when I try to ask them who they are...

Exactly the same situation here.

I wouldn't have my landline, except I doubt my ISP would let me have broadband without it. BT was originally a telephone company, so I doubt it's possible to have broadband without a basic line rental charge too. Might check with them that this is the case at some point when I get round to it...

Not all cell phones display their numbers.
Be sides its kinda fun when they say they're calling from Canada and their number says New York ( with Apu's Accent), and you tell them to Fuck off! you scammer.

Had another one last night, doesn't seem to be a way out of it. I hit '1' to talk to an operator about my, uh, credit card debt or whatever, and then when they say hi, tell them I'm on the registry and to not call me again, and they hang up instead of even awknowledging it...
