News Lower Decks is self-censored

After 30 years in and around military officers...........FUCK YEAH I DO

EDIT: Who the fuck over 10 says pottymouth?

1. Starfleet isn’t military, and I don’t recall any Starfleet officer in ENT, TOS, TNG, DS9, or VOY use the word ‘fuck’ in regular discourse.

2. I used ‘pottymouth’ because that’s the nickname people on the internet have given Clancy.

Starfleet ain't even real and ENT, TOS, TNG, DS9, and VOY were all on fucking broadcast networks and could not use the 7 words. People use curse words.......that will not change even in a Utopian future.

Calm down, man. I know you're trying to make some silly point, but it's not worth it.

1: Can we not with the Starfleet isn't the military discussion. The reasons why they didn't use that word is fairly obvious to my mind.

2: That is the first I have seen her called that.

Yeah, but military officers won’t use them casually on duty most of the time.

South Park is a different case because one of its biggest themes is satirizing the absurdity of broadcast standards.

Who knows what words will even be bad anymore? Damn, hell, fart, OMG, pissed off, load of crap, they used to be a big deal, now they're not. F word and S word might not be allowed on TV, but they're practically conversation now.

Other hand, 'Pussy' used to be used in kiddies' nursery rhymes. And these days, if you use a certain word that rhymes with bigger or another one that rhymes with maggot, the room will go silent and everyone's eyes will get big.

I get your point but there's a difference between curse words and racial and homophobic SLURS so before this goes ONE STEP further just STOP ANY drift in that direction.

I recall being weirded out first time I saw South Park uncensored. It was cool at first, but pretty soon I realised I preferred the bleeps. They fit LDS' tone better than actual swearing.
In the movie, the bleeps were there right from the beginning. I think they should have included the bleeps until after they saw the Terrance and Phillip movie. that would have made the swearing itself part of the joke.

And then there was the episode where they learned they could say "shit" uncensored and kept a running count of the number of times they said it during the episode.

In the last one, we even got a new alert bleep in addition to the classic bleeps! :D
Yeah, I'd say the bleeps are here to stay. The combination of the censor bleeps and Tendi's redaction bleeps was quite comical. Hearing the two different noises multiple times within the same sentence makes me think that this is how the show was supposed to sound and will always be that way. Don't hold your breath for an uncensored version any time soon.
