Spoilers Lower Decks General Discussion Thread

Hey I just got seasons 1 and 2 on R4 dvds but where to get the rest? Did they ever release the whole series on physical media because I can't find it in most of the places that I shop?
Per Wikipedia the entire series was released on physical media in Region 1, Region 2 only has the first three seasons on physical media and only the first season was released on physical in Region 4.

Anyone still playing? The game has experienced some odd glitches with the events recently. About a week ago there was a server failure message popping up for the second half of the day where I couldn’t get in at all. It came back the following day with the event over and no results. Everything I was working on was lost, as was all the latinum I used to boost my characters for that event. Something similar happened last night, where it forced me to update the app and when it came back up, once again the event I was working on (used a lot of latinum again) was prematurely ended and now it still has many hours to go until the next one starts. Normally they show some kind of message saying that Badgey was being a trouble-maker again and they give everyone some latinum, dilithium and a free character for losing everything but these past two times, nothing. I’m glad I didn’t spend any real money to get on the leaderboards, but it kind of sucks that they just shut these things down without any kind of warning and then nothing afterwards with lost resources. Not a good look. This happen to anyone else?

Was this perhaps meant for some other thread? I guess this is about the Lower Decks mobile game, correct?

Almost forgot to report about my experiences at FedCon in Bonn, Germany last Friday. As I mentioned earlier I only had time this year to be there this one day instead of all three, which was a total bummer. Managed to attend the panels by J.G. Hertzler & Robert O’Reilly, Peyton List (Narissa from season one of Picard) and Dan Jeannotte (Sam Kirk from Strange New Worlds), who seemed like a super charming, down-to-earth and funny guy.

My highlight, though, was supposed to be getting my picture taken with both Tawny Newsome and Jonathan Frakes. The photo session with Jonathan Frakes worked out as planned, but Tawny’s was cancelled just a couple of days before the con for some reason. I did manage to upgrade to a more costly Meet & Greet with her, but although it was nice to spend half an hour talking to her (together with a somewhat awkward bunch of five other fans; all male for some reason), it did leave me somewhat underwhelmed, because I really wanted that photo with her. The staff didn’t even let her sign an autograph.

However, towards the end of the day I was lucky enough to spot her again walking the halls with Michelle Hurd and Jonathan Frakes. I felt super embarrassed and annoying, but managed to bother her for a quick selfie, which she graciously agreed to after I told her that I had actually paid for a photo session with her originally. Anyway, it’s not the most flattering angle on my face, but I’m glad I managed to have a photo with her after all.

Can confirm that she’s super nice, witty and funny in person. Hopefully she’ll be there again in the future. :)

Oh crap! You're right! I was wondering why nobody was responding. Sry about that... :sigh: :brickwall:

In any case, it's kind of OBE now, as the glitches seem to have worked themselves out in the past week or so...

Actually I think that you look pretty decent in your selfie with the voice of Beckett Mariner AKA Tawny Newsome.

Wow, that was a bit of luck to see Tawny and get a selfie with her, @Michael! While the photo session photo looks good, I prefer the informal selfie - it's more "oh, you know, I was just out with my friend at some 'con" :D (Your hair looks great, btw - I wish mine would do something like that.)

and Dan Jeannotte (Sam Kirk from Strange New Worlds), who seemed like a super charming, down-to-earth and funny guy.
~ More importantly, was he sporting the moustache? :luvlove:

It's a small federation - thank you I guess for calling me awkward... and no I'm not the guy who built a Tricorder Rutherford-style :p
Anyway glad you got a solo-photo with her in the end too.

What Michael wrote and much more.
I'm hoping for many awesome Newsome Star Trek things to come from Tawny ;)

:alienblush: Stop it, you guys!

I don’t think he was. I remember him telling an anecdote about that, actually, but I only got like half of it. Something about the Strange New Worlds producers always calling him for another guest appearance when he had just shaved.

NO WAY, you were in that group as well?! It’s a small Federation indeed! Now I’m wondering who of them you were, of course. Looking at our group photos my guess is you were either the guy in the Picard uniform or the one with the Mandalorian shirt, correct?

And, well, I honestly think we were all a bit awkward in that little group of ours, myself very much included. When Tawny first asked me a question I didn’t know whether I would even be able to say something. So yeah, I felt super awkward. Truthfully, though, I think we all did well and talked about some interesting stuff, all you guys seemed very nice. What I didn’t like is that I feel we talked more about us and who we were instead of using that opportunity to ask Tawny some questions. And I think it’s a little sad that such an iconic female Trek character doesn’t even get one single female fan in the Meet & Greet. But oh well … And yeah, Tricorder guy put the cherry on top of everything. His Tricorder model was genuinely cool and well-made, but he also kinda hijacked the meeting with that and him giving Tawny that ring-bound technical manual was a bit too much for me, I’m sorry.

Was that the first time you did one of these M&Gs, by the way? And were you more satisfied with it than I was? Oh, and did you get a chance for a regular photo shoot with her as well?

Yes  and possibly :techman:

With concurring things going on at the same time and a small group I wouldn't read too much into it. For example I did met this awesome Lower Decks Mariner cosplay-women from London, all dressed up in Mariners yellow engineer uniform. She even had her hair done Mariner-style too. From all the Lower Decks dressed people it saw, it was at least an even split or maybe even a bit more on the female side.

I'd say it was a pretty fluid conversation from almost all of us. Nobody forgot on how to speak, even if some of the spoken English could have used a translator boost of sorts ;) You weren't among them and you didn't seem star stuck to me. As for the Tricorder-guy - his prop was impressive and a lot of work. I think it was a fan script of some sorts in that binder - something about Starship Iberia or so, not just a manual. Was bothered a bit by that too.

I didn't feel star stuck (I'm too old for that), but it was my first meet and greet (out of two) and Tawny and another non-Star Trek actor were the only reason I attended the Fedcon. I had a clear expectation of what a meet and greet was gonna be - as it was outlined in the terms - which is why I did buy a separate photo shot ticket. She remembered me there, which was really cool for me. Overall a very precious, fun and a cool experience and I think Tawny deserves a lot of credit. She was also refreshingly forthcoming during the meet and greet with openly talking about Star Treky-things and her many Star Trek hats uniforms > a Star Trek fan and a living Star Trek knowledge base that is also a talented Star Trek voice/live action actress, writer, podcaster and developer/producer.

For those that weren't there. She talked about all these things in the past - even if maybe not so directly, but she requested to keep these things on the down low and I will honor that Mariner-Klingon-style.
If you don't want to go back the last year of interviews and announcements then I urge you to read my quote with the emphasis.

Oh and one cool final Lower Decks thing I saw at the Fedcon, in the main hall on the upper deck there was this "Hi, I am C.A.R.L" replica build which looked very much like Peanut Hamper. Don't know why it was there or for what purpose however.
