I guess all animated elements always have lower detail than real or CGI models for live-action shows(TL;DR, I suspect this is an intentionally lower-detail promo image, given the omission of certain customary features.)

It doesn't look like it'll air simultaneously outside of North America. I was hoping a partner would be announced soon, but there's nothing. Then again, CBS hasn't even given this series a trailer, so no one's probably interested in showing it.
The official press release stated the show was going to be "distributed worldwide by ViacomCBS Global Distribution Group" which is really vague speak for 'its coming, we're just ironing out the details with the distributor.' But I do understand the frustration of not knowing.
Hopefully, this will get easier next year after CBSAA goes international!

Because they wanted to have a brand new ship? Why not just use a Steamrunner-Class?
Trek will always labor in its past.Because they wanted to have a brand new ship?
Why do so many want them to reuse designs? let the Star Trek universe expand. Get your head out of the past.

So why use a design that is so similar that it immediately strikes a chord with an established class? Why not go for something more unique?Because they wanted to have a brand new ship?

It’s not my favourite but well done to the First Contact team for doing something really different and unique, it helped expand the universe in some new and interesting ways.Because that class design sucks?![]()

It seems pretty unique to me.So why use a design that is so similar that it immediately strikes a chord with an established class? Why not go for something more unique?
Because it's an FC Era design. They want to evoke TNG the TV Series. And, if it's 2380, and they're on an older/used ship, i.e. "10 years old" (just as an example), it would be TNG Era.Why not just use a Steamrunner-Class?
The design came from DSC season 2, they were only just clearly seen in COM, and was inspired by the tugs in TOS Tech Manual.A thought just occurred to me: I wonder if the California class was trying to invoke/update the Zimmermans that were used in “Children of Mars”:
