Love interests on Voyager...

Actually...while I haven't read it myself yet, one of the newer novels is set in an alternate universe where it does happen. (Myriad, I think?)

Yeah, I was surprised when I heard too. The Pocketbook writers have been throwing the J/C fans a few bones here and there lately, though. Aside from some throwaway lines that hint at more in some of the recent books, they also had a rather interesting storyline in one of the Mirror Universe, and one of the stories in Distant Shores was all about their relationship.

Well if they start doing more with this alternate universe I'll have to start buying Pocket books again. It sounds a hell of a lot better than what they've been doing in the "real" universe.

Soooo after watching "Someone's watching over me"... yeah, seven and the doctor COULD have worked, but I don't think that it WOULD have worked...

any takers?

The Doctor has a pretty big ego; and Seven doesn't have a praise-heavy approach. I think the Doctor could use a girlfriend who is very devoted to him. Kes had the right approach with the doctor, I think. She did him a lot of good.

Both Janeway and Chakotay are single in the 'real' universe of the novels so far ... well, in the Voyager books anyway, because
obviously she's dead since Before Dishonor and the subsequent books, Destiny and so on. Chakotay seemed pretty cut up about it in the Destiny trilogy.

So I've got my fingers crossed for a bit of J/C in 'Full Circle'. :D

Apparently in some novel, Chakotay and Janeway get married and have a daughter

Which one? Must be fanfiction...

If anyone was curious about the it's "Places of Exile" in the Myriad Universes compilation, "Infinity's Prism." The Mirror Universe isn't nearly as J/C friendly (to put it mildly.)

Hey!!!!

That was a spoiler for DESTINY as well and I read it because the spoiler tag only mentioned Before Dishonor. Please be real specific with your spoiler tags people, this is something I did NOT want to know.

:(

Hahaha,

Cute thread....!

Hmm, B'lanna/Tom were a nice couple. (As much as Tom was a litte too much energetic).

Seven/The Doctor could have worked; Seven/Harry would have been interesting, but I think Seven would have had Harry around her finger...i.e. the poor guy wouldn't have known how to handle her.

Janeway/Chakotay should have happened. (And if someone can remember that novel where the romance occured, please post it).

Chakotay/Seven was too abrupt.

Seven/Tuvok could have happened due to the way they approached 'life;' however, Tuvok was unavailable.

Tom/Kes could have happened, and would have created a Neelix/Tom/Kes triangle. (Since I'm not really a Neelix fan...I don't think I would have been rooting for him).

As a person who thought that Voyager DID have its issues, I was upset that Janeway was not allowed a healthy romance (one that didn't last within the current week's episode). She was holding out for 'Mark' who decided to marry someone else!

Well before Tom knocked up B'lanna he knocked up Janeway (maybe 3 times, unless there was a litter or 3) they turned into lizards buy hey... :)

I liked Janeway/Chakotay, Doctor/Seven and Tom/B'Elanna. I also found Kes/Doctor to be really sweet.
I think that Harry intentionally picked unavailable women to avoid dealing with his unrequited love for Tom. He always acted like he had a crush on Tom imo.

Really? Tom was too old for Harry.

So I just finished Ashes to Ashes...

I'm sad now.

I really think that Harry and Lyndsay could've made a sweet couple! Harry got himself some balls and looked like he could've made it work. Plus I think she was pretty hot as a bald, purple-ish, cat-eyed alien. :)

That's disgusting. She'd be a vitaphile!

Seriously but, she's the only crewmen other than the doctor, and Tom: who was faking, and kes who had become a god, who asked to leave... Oh and Seska who was chased off, and Neelix who thought he was going to get some... Oh, Seven tried to run, but they wrangled her, and the Borg kids wanted to see their mommies and daddies...

I remember being dismayed when Harry was suggesting that she murder and neuter the personality living inside her, so that she could have a pleasantly human life with him. that what he believed were her needs were more important than her actual wishes... Bad Harry.

She had to fight her biology and instincts to stay on Voyager, and in the end she lost... (Um that's the same reason Seven gave for running away when they wrangled her in the Gift?)

But wasn't Kim insisting that she have surgery and drug treatments to feel comfortable around him? Was this whole story a metaphor for cohabiting with a post-op transsexual? (That bits serious. There was a whole season on the subject and then fallout for a couple years afterward on nip/tuck.)

Faking what?

I think Harry was telling her to do so, thinking that's what would make her happy. But then when he realized it wouldn't, he admitted he'd be fine with her being bald and purple. "I think you'd be cute bald" or something to that effect. And it wasn't Kim insisting she have surgery and drug treatments, she was more than willing to do so to herself, thinking that's what would make her feel better in Voyager. She gave her speech about how she thought coming back to Voyager was weird, thinking once she gets settled in she'll get back into groove, and the aesthetics was a part of it.

But anyways, they had that chemistry moment in Harry's quarters. The entire 2nd-chance rule the day thing.

As for the whole metaphor for post-op tranny ish, I think thats a FAR stretch... I was really digging the what-if second-chance message, and cultural assimilation/integration/adaptation more than anything else. But this is coming from me, a second-generation Asian-american, so maybe that's why I see it like that... and also wanting Harry, the only Asian guy on deck, to get some play...

Tom was faking being a bad boy so that he would pretend to leave Voyager and be recruited by Seska to infiltrate her cadre to figure out who the spy on Voyager was... I saw Mr Jonas on Prison break the other Night kicking the crap out Tea Bag. I really don't think that Ethan Phillips or Neelix would have stood a chance against this bloke if he really let lose.

It was a three episode arc.

it was the only three episode arc on the show.

It was the only time it seemed like I had been awarded for paying attention.

Be true to thyself.

There are many reasons for one to be disjoint with their inner qualities.
