Just thinking how funny it was that Tom originally had the hots for Kes, but ended up with someone quite the opposite of her, in B'Elanna. And B'Elanna had a thing for Chakotay early on, and ended up with someone the opposite of him, with Tom...
There's nothing weird about being attracted to two diametrically opposed people. You don't love them for the types they represent.
And tough love? wanting to slap them? That's added spice.
There's a lot of 'love' going on in Voyager.
Including some stories no one mentioned yet. Like
-Kathryn with Michael Sullivan and even Kashyk, and of course that early episode with Chakotay;
-Kes with that attractive lone ranger with long black hair... I was sorry to see that going nowhere.
-Even Neelix finds a mate in the end.
-Tuvok has a bit of romance thrown his way too in that Lori Petti episode (and what do you know, his clothes happen to be sexier than usual!

)
The list is not complete yet.
Chakotay [...]in the end, he loved Seven.
No he didn't. He was just written that way.
One of my favorite episodes is the one in later seasons when Janeway decides to help that handful of crew members that were lagging behind...don't remember the name of it. But the girl- Tal Celes, I think, and some guy had a cute flirty thing going on that I think could have turned into a romance if they were in more than one episode.
On the com together in the middle of the night, tucked under the covers? That was cute. Young love-like. This actress is now in Dirty Sexy Money - lovely as ever.
the doctor and seven had chemistry, however.
I'd like to say so. Possibly. But it's really unrequited love. The only thing I agree with about C/7 is that she indeed needs an alpha male of some kind to dominate her like Chakotay does in One Small Step (season 6) already.
The one Seven really has affinities with is Tuvok, but it's out of the question. No real chemistry, as a matter of fact. But were he available, I'd say it would be a whole different story.
I regret that they didn't go for Harry/Seven. Could have been fun.
Ha ha! Oh yes. Plenty of comedy there. And possibly two character arcs.
No complains about B'Elanna/Tom though. In retrospect, it's funny how B'Elanna was sometimes outright disgusted by Tom Paris's behavior in Season 1.
heh, yea. But it's one of those archetypal adventure romances- utter irritation turning to hesitant affection and then to romance. I could probably dig up plenty of storylines like it.
Oh, it also happens in non-adventure real life all the time. It's just like that with men and women, oftentimes.
For the anecdote, I hated my first love as a teenager, and it scarred me for life!
Jeri, as usual, I agree with you.
