Lost footage of TOS found in Roddenberry vault. Bluray forthcoming.

From the official press release:

...fans can see and own behind the scenes footage from the making of the series as well as alternate takes, deleted scenes, omitted dialogue, outtakes, and original visual FX elements.

Also:

The special feature documentaries are:
· Inside The Roddenberry Vault – A multi-part glimpse at classic episodes from new angles and perspectives.
· Star Trek: Revisiting A Classic – A look at life on the set during production.
· Strange New Worlds: Visualizing The Fantastic – An inside look at the groundbreaking work of the series’ designers and visual effects artists.

Alternate takes, deleted scenes and omitted dialog are definitely mentioned there.

The quality of said footage remains to be seen. I know recently footage of previously unseen sequences of the 11 ft. Enterprise model has been circulating on FB, Youtube and around the net. It's awesome stuff showing us never-before-seen angles of the Enterprise. I don't recall where it comes from, but maybe it's part of this fortcoming collection of lost footage that got "leaked" somehow. I hope so because it's amazing.

I would love to see such materiel restored for proper viewing. And properly restoring such materiel would indeed be a treat for fans.

That's what I had thought and the announcement got me thinking there was a chance. But it doesn't seem likely after all.
At least I finally got the Wrath of Khan deleted scenes !
That was a big deal for me.

Unless you've seen the workprint housed at UCLA, you haven't seen all of the Wrath of Khan deleted scenes, so I'm still not seeing your point.

I did, back in 2013, after an awesome poster here had let me know of its existence a year earlier.
But even the workprint doesn't have all the cut material since it ends when Spock goes to repair the engine.
Still, about 90% of the deleted scenes/lines from the script up to that point in the movie, are in the workprint.

So what got cut and did I miss it? There were lots of nuanced scenes in the novelisation that I wish had found their way into the movie.

As for TOS, it looks like they will probably feature the deleted scenes in among the interviews and possibly have an option to just view the scenes from each epsiode. Still very tempting.

Read the Khan script at Trekcore -- if it's in the script but not in the movie -- there's a very good chance it was filmed.

Saavik being mentioned as half-Romulan
Kirk trying on the glasses in his apt and reading the Ale label.
David railing aginst the "military" even more in his first scene with his mom
The alternate Chekov log entry where he calls himself "duty officer" rather than first officer
Chekov being frightened by the toddler in the cargo carrier window
Terrell finding and talking to the toddler inside the cargo carrier
Khan mentioning Marla by name after Chekov says, "Cap Kirk was your host.."
Terrell calling Reliant and tricking them into beaming up "guests" (after the eel insertion)
Sulu being mentioned as taking command of the Excelsior in the shuttle pod scene.
Kirk mentioning that he is aware Chekov is serving on Reliant just before the attack
Khan mocking Kirk during their parlay after the first attack.
McCoy mentioning he served with Terrell after Terrell is found.
The original version of the Kirk David fight where David gets the upper hand on Kirk.
Carol defusing the situation by revealing to all -- that they are father and son.
McCoy and David arguing after they are stranded.
David and Saavik being attracted to each other in the "Eden Cave"
McCoy, Carol and Kirk describing the cave as being like Eden.

And dozens of little snipped lines here and there besides these larger cuts.

All very cool to see!

But as far as "should have been left in" -- I would say that just the Saavik/Romulan, Khan speaks of Marla, Sulu's mention as being promoted, Kirk mentioning Chekov as on board Reliant and Carol, Kirk and McCoy alluding to "Eden" are the ones I would have kept. Add up to only about 90 seconds of run time believe it or not.
Sulu losing the captaincy of Excelsior could have been explained in 30 seconds of dialogue in TSFS (as was done in the TSFS novel) and Saavik being half Roumulan would have created one more discrepancy -- among half a dozen others in TSFS, so big deal IMO.

Here's my transcript of the scenes as they exist in the workprint. I've not been able to see it myself, but I've gotten help from those like Harvey that have: https://www.scribd.com/document/246301267/Star-Trek-II-Footage-Rundown-Workprint

It's just so bizarre and unfair that Nicholas Meyer receives NO credit for this script. I'm not sure how this occurred given the Writer's Guild's rules. It's my understanding that Meyer wrote 90% (or more) of what appears on screen, based on story elements from several earlier drafts. This should credit Meyer as the screenwriter and everybody else as "story by."

IIRC, Meyer struck a deal with Harve Bennett that he would do the rewrites without credit, for some benefit that escapes me at the moment.

I'm paraphrasing from memory, I read it in Star Trek Movie Memories:

Meyer: "OK, I'm in. Let's see the script."
Bennett: "Oy vey, am I embarrassed... I just got the last draft. If I were you, I'd forget doing this movie."
Meyer: "What?? C'mon, I've been catching up on the episodes, I'm getting an Horatio Hornblower vibe from this, I wanna do this! What's the problem?"
Bennett: "The script sucks. It's 120 pages of nothing."
Meyer: (reads the script) " ... Ouch. OK, let's see the last draft before this one."
Bennett: "It's a totally different take. They all are. They're not drafts of the same movie. And we have to have a finished script in twelve days, or ILM can't provide us with completed effects in time for release."
Meyer: "Oh. Hmm... okay. Give me all the rejected drafts, I'll kitbash the best parts of them together. You'll have it in twelve days."
Bennett: "You will?! But... we can't even get your Writer's Guild contract ready in twelve days!"
Meyer: "Forget the Writer's Guild, because if I don't do this NOW there's not gonna be a movie. And I REALLY WANT to do this movie. I'll ghostwrite the script. You decide whose name goes on the credits later."

Hi all,
I do have more information about this project (those of you who know me, know that I have a special interest in deleted scenes).

For Grant: there are deleted scenes, but they are only short trims. It more correct to say "deleted lines". They won't be inesrted in the episodes becouse they are mostly incomplete, but included as bonus features. The new material is mostly related to the included episodes, but there is also from other episodes. As far as I understood this is all what they have found, so there won't be any Volume 2. As reported on Trekcore, the line of Palams being pregnant from "Who Mourns for Adonais?" is beeing said by the script superviseor (instead of DeForest Kelley) so still no prove that the scene was shot.

For CrazyMatt: nothing from "The Doomsday Machine".

For Slashygirl and Lance: there is a deleted scene (deleted lines) from "Elaan of Troyius" but certainly not all the Uhura subplot.

Best,
Maab

Thanks so much for the info.
Do you know if the brief deleted bits have been restored or are they very rough?
Any info on the other Trek movies deleted scenes ever seeing the light of day?
Thanks again!

The clips have been restored, if nothing else to give them back the right color gradation, since they were all faded to red. I don't think they will match the quality of the remstered episodes, since the original materials were in bad shape (as also reported on TrekCore).

Absolutely no news on deleted scenes from the movies (except this new behind the scene picture from the Memory Wall):

The more I hear, the more it sound like a whole lot of nothing. Just a way to get folks to dip into their pockets one more time that have already bought the Blu-ray sets.

Where can I pre-order? :guffaw:

Yep, sounds like a rip off.
"I'll take one, please!"

It's still unseen TOS -- both behind and in front of the camera. Wish the pre-order would go up!

The fact that a camera was rolling and filming Spock's reaction isn't proof that the scene was filmed?

Neil

Pretty sure he meant completed filming. Obviously they started filming it!
I guess, I won't be able to resist getting this unless it is very expensive. Any guesses on the price?
Msrp $50 -- down to $30.
Or is that too optimistic?

And Spock only has a single line. So without Kelley there is no scene.

INT. BRIDGE
Spock and Kirk are in conference at the command chair. McCoy enters from behind them, looking somewhat bemused. He approaches them, stops. Kirk and Spock look at him.
KIRK
Yes, Bones?
McCOY
You might be interested. Lt. Palamas managed
a picturesque faint at breakfast this morning.
KIRK
Oh?
McCOY
Just after the smell of coffee made her slightly ill.
Kirk and Spock stare at him.
SPOCK
Should that be of significance to us, doctor?
McCOY
I don’t expect it to be to you.
(to Kirk)
But it should mean something to you.
KIRK
Something going around?
McCOY
I certainly hope not. I just finished examining her. She’s pregnant.
KIRK
What?
Even Spock looks surprised.
McCOY
You heard me.
KIRK
(beat)
Apollo?
McCOY
(nodding)
Apollo. Positively.
Kirk and Spock look stunned. McCoy continues, dryly.
McCOY
Now I’ll give you an interesting question to chew on.
What will the child be. Man? Or God?
(beat – to Spock)
You want to try that on your computer for size, Spock?
